On Hold
About Tana
A gentle, well behaved and loyal companion. A real sweet heart.
- Other dogs?
Yes. Tends to be submissive.
- Cats?
Yes. She may try and play which may result in an injury. She has lived with a cat before without incident.
- Kids?
Teenagers and older as she does not like the ‘’intensity’’ of some young kids. She is a gentle dog and will not jump up. She will fret in a home that is loud or chaotic and will not like being forced to endure ‘’rough play’’ (e.g. a toddler tugging, poking, pulling)
- Size?
36 kgs
- Activity level / exercise requirements ?
Moderate. She needs a good sized yard and loves her walks but if you miss a day she will be fine.
- Escape artist?
No
- Does the dog need company during the day? People/other dogs?
As she is so affectionate she would prefer the company of a person. But she can cope if you work full time.
- Toilet Trained?
Yes
- Likes / dislikes ?
Tana adores swimming at the beach or river. She will chase a ball until she collapses if you let her. Other fun things include tug-o-war, chewing on pigs ears plus chest, belly and shoulder rubs. She dislikes lightning, storms and out of control small kids who overwhelm her.
- Ideal home ?
Active retired people who want a companion. Tana will bond with you and become a very loyal and affectionate friend. She will lie at your feet just so she can be close to you. She will be fine with young kids who visit but prefers a quiet life with no chaos. You will need to be a ‘’hard core’’ dog lover and give her plenty of attention. She would enjoy the company of older kids and other dogs but is just as happy without either.
- GENERALLY
She will alert you to strangers but is not aggressive and is likely to lick an intruder to death. She is not a nuisance barker or jumper but a calm and gentle presence in your life.

Adoption details
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
