About Boo
Boo is a very special soul who will require a very understanding family. Boo came to us very traumatised from being used for breeding in a puppy farm. For two days and nights, she stared blankly into space, cut off from her surroundings, she hid under a table and would not let anyone near her for a cuddle or pat or to be picked up. When she did finally venture out, she spent night after night instinctively trying to sleep on the hard wooden floor, rather than in a soft bed, until she got used to the idea that she was allowed to sleep in comfort. After several months with us, Boo is now a much happier girl – she wags her tail, she dances with delight on her hind legs when we come home, she rolls over for a tummy rub, she sleeps in her favourite bed right next to her foster Daddy, she loves to rest in a human lap or lie in the back garden in the sun, and she follows her foster Mum and Dad around faithfully, keeping an eye on them at all times. However, there are a number of issues with Boo that her new owners need to be aware of. Firstly, she is still a very scared little girl (hence her name) – she does not like crowds, strange people in the house, or most children (although she has warmed over time to her human foster teenage sister). Secondly, although she has made progress, she is not completely toilet trained and this will need more work and patience. Thirdly, despite initially thinking she did not have a voice, Boo has found her inner soprano and can bark brilliantly in tune with her foster siblings when a visitor or stranger comes to the door.
Despite all of these issues, Boo is loved and adored by her foster family and we want to find the perfect and understanding home for her. She is tiny (3.4kgs), beautiful and is an excellent and unfussy eater who will eagerly eat anything you put in front of her – very quickly (she almost inhales her food)! We do not think it is absolutely necessary for Boo to have a doggie mate, as she does not seem too engaged with our other dogs, and we think she would be fine either as an only dog or with a (small) doggy sibling. She would be better in a house without children and with carers who are home most of the time, as she likes the company of her human companion(s). Like most chihuahuas, she does not need much exercise as our backyard is like the MCG to her! So if you are looking for a tiny dog who will provide loving and loyal companionship and who does not need regular exercise, but does need loads of love, cuddles, attention, care and understanding, then Boo might just be for you.
