Outgoing, playful, purrrrrrfection!!
ABOUT ME: If you ever thought tabby cats were boring and unattractive, well you have never met me!! I am just adorable and always a favourite among my foster mother and her friends. My black tabby markings are just like tiger stripes, in fact I really am a tiger. You should hear how loud I can purr!! My birth mother ended up in Blacktown Animal Holding Facility pound pregnant and gave birth to us there. My mum, brothers and sisters have already found loving permanent homes to spend the rest of their lives with, surely it's my time now?
I have lots of energy and love to run around the house and play games. I especially love the mouse my foster mum has dangling on an elastic string in the hallway!! I love to make lots of grrrrr sounds as I see how far along the hallway I can get with this mouse. I hold the record distance for the household you know!!
WHAT WE THINK: Archie is a real ball of fun and gets along with everyone. He needs a home where he won't be left alone during the day and get bored. He is still only young so needs plenty of stimulation and interaction. We suggest he is adopted with one of his friends or alternatively he would probably get along with another cat in your household just fine. Archie had been fine with children as young as 1-2 yrs who enjoy playing games with him. He is outgoing and never been mean or aggressive with anyone.
STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW: I am desexed, vaccinated (F3) and microchipped. Before coming to live with you, I will be wormed and flea treated (and i hope you will be getting your home ready for me). I have been FIV/FeLV tested and my results were negative. To help cover some costs there will be a $45 charge to cover our out of pocket expenses but this is much cheaper than if you got the test done with your local vet and you know you have a cat free of these diseases. I am also lifetime registered as well as I am over 6 months of age now (compulsory in NSW).
ADOPTING ME: You must be able to provide me with a loving long term and safe home. This means either keeping me inside (even when bigger; yes I will still keep growing for another year) or providing a cat run for me. I would be fine in an apartment as long as I didn't have free run of the balcony if it wasn't fully enclosed. Please ensure your house or apartment can contain a cat inside (ie fly screens etc). Please remember that I have thought seriously about taking you on and when you take me home, I am committing to you for life. So, I hope you have thought seriously about this and are likewise planning on committing to me.
ABOUT YOU: Given you know all about me, my foster parents would like to know something about who my new parents are going to be. They have rescued me from death row and have given me a lot of love care and love. I know they love me and therefore want the best for me.
ABOUT US: We placed this ad to promote adoptions of pound cats and to try to re-home them. If you would like to help us, please feel free to contact us and find out how you may assist, including being a foster parent of a pound cat. If you would like more information about me, have read all the information about me and can offer me a home like I need - you can call beth on 0403 482 522 (evenings or weekends) or email her through this site. She can also put you in touch with Sarah my foster carer.
Adoption details
STEP 1: Send us an email with some details about the home you can offer. We like to match people to animals so the result is a happy home for life for owner and animal. Accordingly, as we already know the cat, we want to understand what you believe you can bring to the relationship. Please include a contact telephone number in your email, including, if necessary, the time it may be most convenient for us to contact you.
STEP 2: We will give you a call to discuss the animal. The person calling you will be a Pound Cat Adoptions coordinator, or the cat's foster carer.
STEP 3: If all sounds great and we both think it would be a good match for you, then we usually come and visit you in your home for a meet and greet. We put a lot of time into our cats and like to be certain they will live in a safe environment, so we do like to see their potential new home and to meet your other family members.
STEP 4: If we all agree that it is a good match then an adoption can take place.
STEP 5: We do offer a trial period of 2 weeks, which can be extended if necessary. \ If it becomes clear the relationship will not work, we are very happy to take the cat back and will return the majority of the adoption fee, unless you want to try again with a different cat. We want to ensure that the cat is happy and so are you, and understand that sometimes things do not work out. In those circumstances, we want the cat back - we do not want it to end up in another pound environment! We help where we can by providing advice on care of the animal as best we can but will refer you to vets for any health issues.
All our animals will be desexed, vaccinated (at least 1st F3), microchipped and their worming and flea treatments will be up to date. Some are also life time registered for NSW.
