About Leo
Leo is a desexed male domestic shorthair available for adoption in Kangaroo Point (Brisbane, QLD).
There's a cat who will follow you from room to room, post up nearby while you work, and greet you at the door with a signature head boop — and that cat is Leo.
He's a calm, intelligent presence who genuinely loves being around his people. Not in a needy way — in a deeply loyal, always-in-your-orbit kind of way.
Leo is a domestic shorthair with a personality that rewards the people who understand him. He knows what he likes and isn't shy about it — which means the connection you share always feels genuine.
A little about Leo:
🐾 Signature greeting: the head boop — every time you walk in
🐾 Calm and playful in equal measure
🐾 Highly intelligent and endlessly curious about what you're up to
🐾 Loves sun-soaking in the mornings and a good game of cat tease
🐾 Will occasionally honour you with a nap — on you
Mornings with Leo have a particular rhythm. He'll find his sunniest spot and toast himself while the household comes to life. Once his people are moving, he's ready — bee toy, laser, a stretch of cat TV watching birds from the window. He takes his bird-watching seriously.
By mid-morning, he's likely positioned at a high window, quietly logging the comings and goings of the street like the highly intelligent observer he is.
Leo's affection is real — and deliberate. Head boops on arrival, following you from room to room, sleeping nearby, and the occasional rare moment where he'll settle right on top of you. That last one feels earned. Because it is. He keeps his own schedule — and has a lovely habit of showing up exactly when you need him.
He takes a measured approach with new people. He won't rush to greet a stranger, but he won't disappear either — he'll observe, approach in his own time, and often reward patience with a boop and a sniff. Those who let him lead will form the best connection when meeting him.
Leo will flourish in a calm, adult household where someone is home regularly. He's the kind of cat who wants access to his people — not constant handling, just proximity and genuine connection. A home without other pets will let him be exactly who he is: settled, secure, and fully himself.
Leo loves being near his people at night — guardians who are happy to share their space will find he settles in quietly and makes excellent company.
Life with Leo looks like slow sunny mornings, a boop when you least expect it, and a warm, watchful presence that makes a home feel fuller.
If you're after a companion who's independent enough to let you breathe and devoted enough to always find you, Leo is already looking for you.
FAQ
Is Leo good with children?
Leo does best in an adult-only home. He's a confident and interactive cat, but prefers the quieter energy that tends to come with adult company.
Does Leo get along with other pets?
Leo would thrive as the only pet. He's a social cat with his people, and a solo setup lets him fully settle and feel secure.
How does Leo do when you first bring him home?
Leo is people-positive and curious by nature, so he tends to engage fairly readily. Giving him space to explore and come to you on his own terms will help him settle in comfortably.
Does Leo like to be held or cuddled?
Leo is affectionate in his own way — head boops, following you around, napping nearby. He enjoys connection on his terms, which means every gesture he makes toward you is the real thing.
What does Leo eat?
Leo enjoys tuna-based wet food.
Medical notes
Leo is in good general health and is currently taking a low-dose anti-anxiety prescription medication called Gabapentin to support him through a recent change in his home environment.
It's situational rather than ongoing — once Leo is settled with the right person, he is unlikely to need it long term.
His complete patient history is on file and ready to share with his new guardian's veterinary team when the time comes.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
