Every so often a dog is born with the temperament of an angel, and Zsasz is one of those dogs. While he is going to be a very big dog, his gentle personality shines through.
Zsasz came into care early in life at 8 weeks old, and after a leg injury needing time to heal, is now ready to find his forever family. He is used to busy home life, living with several other dogs and a cat, and has met children with whom he was absolutely wonderful. He may jump up at adults but seems to know he should not jump up at children.
He is a sensitive soul- a single correction is enough for him. Zsasz is extremely food motivated and easy to train, as he will do anything for the smallest piece! True to his nature, Zsasz auto heels while off-leash around his property and will follow you to the end of the earth. He does need work on not approaching other passerby's to politely say hello, but he does not approach other dogs. He is fine if they choose to say hello and will then follow you past.
Zsasz would be fine with both small humans and cats, as even when presented with ducks and geese he chooses to watch respectfully and not chase. He is in general, a dog who thinks before he acts. However- he is still a goofy dane at heart and will never miss an opportunity to slap you with his big paw while cuddling on the couch- because this man is a cuddler through and through.
As with any dog, Zsasz has one thing that needs some work and that is being left alone. Like most sighthound crosses, he prefers to have somebody around most of the time. However he is doing well with crate training and is not destructive (past normal puppy chewing) but may bark when you leave the house. This is getting much better with time, and is less with a dog friend around. While he could go as a single dog, we would recommend doggie daycare or dog walkers to break up the day if left alone without another dog at this time.
Zsasz is a special boy who would fit most homes- a gentle giant who deserves the best, and can offer so much love.
