Bruce's requirements in his new home
- To be have the option of being inside when his people are home and to sleep of a night.
- A securely fenced back yard with room for him to run and play.
- Continued exposure to new situations slowly with plenty of treats for rewards.
- A home with that can accommodate a large young dog.
- Continued training to walk nicely on lead.
- Bruce would be happiest with another desexed dog living in the home that is medium to large in size.
Bruce is a lovable and goofy lad, he loves a good play session and very much loves a good session on a chew toy, horn, hoof, raw meaty bone, or another dogs face. He appears to be undersocialised so can be a little stressed in new situations and environments, but nothing some patience (and treats) won’t fix. He has a mischievous face, and some of the best brindle colouring we have ever seen! Currently weighing in around 35kgs, and not done growing so we are expecting him to be quite a big boy.
He is still learning to walk appropriately on a lead, but our Trainer will provide full support to help him be the best version of himself! Initially, he did show some stranger danger when meeting new people, but with some training and socialisation he now thinks any human is going to be his best friend. He loves a good cuddle session and sleeps pretty well. He hasn’t shown a huge prevalence towards barking other than at odd sounds in the night, and hasn’t shown any separation related behaviours.
He has had a bit of a scary incident at the Vet when he was about 4-5 months old and we were advised he did growl, but our Trainer who has been working with him thinks it may have been a mixture of a “fear period” and potentially some pain. His last Vet Visit, our poor Vet did struggle to do an examination, because he wouldn’t stay still as he wanted pats and play, and if it wasnt that, because he was on his back demanding belly scratches. He is quite human social especially if he feels safe and secure.
Health notes: During a physical exam while he was at the vets getting a vaccination when he was 4-5months old, there was indication of pain in his hips. We diligently gave him some more time to settle and grow then recently got x-rays done and he does show a level of Hip Dysplasia. No surgery recommendations, simply just recommendations of no forced exercise and dietary supplements, Rosehip, 4cyte, Antinol Rapid etc - but it should be noted this may cause concerns when he is older. Full Veterinary history and X-rays can be provided upon approval successful meet and greet, so in his trial period you can get your own Vet to examine. As you can see by the videos, he can be off leash playing for an hour straight, no pain, lameness or limping have ever been noted.
*The breed is to the best of our knowledge from the information we've been given.*
*PLEASE read the ‘profile’ thoroughly before enquiring in detail.*
