About Ricotta
The Cheese Puppies are a litter of 6 purebred Maremma puppies. They are 8 weeks of age (DOB: 5/12/2024) and are ready for new homes following their sterilisations (scheduled 11/2/2025).
There are four boys (Cheddar, Colby, Edam, and Halloumi) and two girls (Brie and Ricotta).
It is very important that new homes understand the requirements of a Maremma. In particular, they are:
-A large breed, being 30-40kgs (for girls) and 35kg-45kgs (for dogs).
-A guardian breed, inclined to bark as a natural breed instinct. Training and stimulation does not change a Maremma's tendancy to guard their property by barking. Adopters must consider the appropriateness of their living circumstances for a dog that is inclined to bark.
-Suspicious to strangers. Adopters must consider management of visitors to the home as the dog matures.
-Require regular grooming.
The Cheese Puppies have been well cared for leading up to their surrender to Leema Rescue. Their mother lives on a property and provides some guardian care to lambs and chickens.
Their adoption fee is $700. This includes:
-Sterilised by vasectomy or tubal ligation
-Vaccination
-Microchip
-Worming
-Flea treatment
-Ongoing support for the lifetime of the puppy
As Maremmas are a large breed, it is not recommended that they are desexed prior to physical maturity at 24 months.
The Cheese Puppies are located in Hamley Bridge, South Australia. We welcome adopters from interstate.
