About Sylvester & Snow
Vet check 30/08/2024
Treated with Advocate 22/07/2024
D.O.B: Sylvester 09/05/2023 & Snow 24/09/2023
These boys are in need of a single level cage with minimal fall risk and Sylvester needs his weight monitored to relieve some strain on his legs, they didn't come into care together but still have a good bond. Most standard ferret cages will need to be modified for these boys comfort and a larger sized tub cage over 100cm would also be a good alternative, they are both still young so playtime can be a bit crazy.
Snow was surrendered by a young man who luckily realised he had too much on his hands and Sylvester was a give away sadly raised on Sylvester's wet cat food, which is why he has hyperflexation as bad as he does. The nutritional value simply wasn't there to help Sylvester's body grow as normal and he was also bottle raised from birth, both these boys for all their quirks are very friendly to people.
Sylvester has hyperflexation and this affects his mobility, as well as posing a potential risk when held that his joints could pop out and back in as everything is just so loose. He tends to gorge on food and then be unable to loose the extra pounds through play, simply because his legs can't support too much weight.
Snow has hemivertebra to such a extent he has a visible mass on his spine and his body is permanently shortened, this doesn't stop him playing like a nutcase though. Hemivertebra is a genetic condition with no cure, it can only be monitored and maintained.
Sylvester and Snow live with another boy named Gregory, who also has some mild medical quirks that need monitoring. They can be adopted out as a trio for $450 or can stay as a pair, Gregory is quite a social and independent ferret so mixes well with nearly any others.
They are on a balanced raw mix that is fed in the evening and of a weekend they get bone or whole prey to help aid in dental health, the raw mix contains:
1.25kg chicken carcass mince
250g chicken necks or wing tips or quail necks
250g beef chunks
250g roo chunks
375g heart
63g Tripe
63g Fish
63g Kidney

Medical notes
Snow has Hemivertebra
Sylvester has hyperflexation
Both are medically stable and just need monitoring.
Adoption details
Please do not ask for a intact rescue as refusal often offends and it's in the best interest of the companion pet they have this done first, exceptions will only be made for those well known by the rescue. There is a adoption formula to fill out and a picture of the cage is required, they need a cage so they can have a place specifically thier own
All ferrets adopted out are required to be kept on a balanced raw diet, they will smell worse on a incorrect diet as it messes with thier systems and due to not having a caecum they cannot digest plant or vegetable matter. Full balanced raw diet and the vet trips they may need, along with the initial cost of cage or items can be a little pricey.
Phone calls may be made to talk in person about adoption or to offer advice about the crazy wonderful characters in care and you will need to have rental approval if in rental, as sadly small companion pets are classed as livestock so not protected by the companion animals act.
