About Gregory
Vet checked & cleared for adoption August 2024
Treated with Advocate 22/07/2024
Gregory is a special boy who suffered trauma at a very young and tender age which has permanently affected him, he'll need a confident understanding adopter to help build a bond. He is very ferret social and is currently living with a mildly disabled boy pair, so a home with ferrets that he gets along with would be ideal.
I am advising against homes with children that don't have ferret experience or are too young to understand, simply because of what Gregory's already been through and what he needs to help show the sweet side he has.
His ears have suffered trauma and both are affected by cauliflower ear, surgery can be done to fix this but currently isn't required as the condition of his ears is regularly monitored. So while being maintained the surgery shouldn't be needed, it is also strongly advisable not to bath him as his ears will trap water even if dried off and cause potential ear infections as the water is unable to flow out easily.
I trust him nearly fully, but have put in the work to show her can trust me and I still get the occasional chewing tantrum or little love chews. This is just part of who Gregory is and you can definitely see when he's about to throw a fit, strangers with ferret knowledge have been safe handling him.
Gregory is living with 2 other boys with stable medical quirks, they can be adopted as a trio for $450 or Gregory can go as a solo with others he gets along with.
He is on a balanced raw mix that is fed in the evening and of a weekend they get bone or whole prey to help aid in dental health, the raw mix contains:
1.25kg chicken carcass mince
250g chicken necks or wing tips or quail necks
250g beef chunks
250g roo chunks
375g heart
63g Tripe
63g Fish
63g Kidney

Medical notes
Cauliflower ear with both ears that doesn't currently need surgery, to help prevent infections he is not to be bathed and ears are to be regularly monitored.
Gregory is more heat sensitive than other ferrets due to his dark coloration and overheats a lot easier.
Mast cell tumour on the right shoulder, in my experience these while painful are not dangerous.
Adoption details
Please do not ask for a intact rescue as refusal often offends and it's in the best interest of the companion pet they have this done first, exceptions will only be made for those well known by the rescue. There is a adoption form to fill out and a picture of the cage is required, they need a cage so they can have a place specifically thier own to chill out.
All ferrets adopted out are required to be kept on a balanced raw diet, they will smell worse on a incorrect diet as it messes with thier systems and due to not having a caecum they cannot digest plant or vegetable matter. Full balanced raw diet and the vet trips they may need, along with the initial cost of cage or items can be a little pricey.
Phone calls may be made to talk in person about adoption or to offer advice about the crazy wonderful characters in care and you will need to have rental approval if in rental, as sadly small companion pets are classed as livestock so not protected by the companion animals act.
