About Raki & Raikou
Adoption or Foster Home 24/08/2024
Vet checked and cleared for adoption 12/07/2024
Treated with Advocate 22/07/2024
D.O.B: 06/02/2024
Adoption Fee: $650 (this is due to unexpectedly high cost of cryptorchid surgery at secondary vet, receipt can be provided)
These boys are brothers and don't have the best background, luckily they have passed a vet check with no medical issues. Raki the sable was a cryptorchid with much higher drive than his brother Raikou, who ended up with a scab on the back of his neck when they were still entire and while they can be pretty full on to each other they are quite safe towards people.
I am expecting them to become even calmer once they no longer have hormones and have also had a chance to get adjusted to the loss, in time I think they could potentially be suitable for beginners. Like any young ferret though they do need to be watched around faces, as a cheeky nip could happen and it's just to be naughty.
They are ferret social but could be a bit full on for older or slower ferrets, being quite young getting out for several hours a day is essential and ensure the night is fairly quiet. When they haven't had enough playtime during the day the nights can get a bit noisy and they are excellent climbers, Raikou especially loves to spend a lot of time on the running wheel.
They are on a balanced raw mix that is fed in the evening and of a weekend they get bone or whole prey to help aid in dental health, the raw mix contains:
1.25kg chicken carcass mince
250g chicken necks or wing tips or quail necks
250g beef chunks
250g roo chunks
375g heart
63g Tripe
63g Fish
63g Kidney

Adoption details
Please do not ask for a intact rescue as refusal often offends and it's in the best interest of the companion pet they have this done first, exceptions will only be made for those well known by the rescue. There is a adoption formula to fill out and a picture of the cage is required, they need a cage so they can have a place specifically thier own
All ferrets adopted out are required to be kept on a balanced raw diet, they will smell worse on a incorrect diet as it messes with thier systems and due to not having a caecum they cannot digest plant or vegetable matter. Full balanced raw diet and the vet trips they may need, along with the initial cost of cage or items can be a little pricey.
Phone calls may be made to talk in person about adoption or to offer advice about the crazy wonderful characters in care and you will need to have rental approval if in rental, as sadly small companion pets are classed as livestock so not protected by the companion animals act.
