About Yuki. Young excited loving girl π
Yuki is a young girl with so much love to give and so much desire to be a good girl for her person!
She never had love before coming to us. Even though she's only young herself, as soon as she was old enough she'd been made pregnant so her people could make money from the sale of her pups, and as soon as her pups were old enough they were taken off her to be raised by another mum so the sellers could present a healthy, loved mum while Yuki lived in atrocious conditions at another location. Yuki was then made pregnant again and the same thing happened - babies taken away and she was left by herself, stuck down the side of a house with no shelter from the rain or sun, no attention except to be thrown some food ocassionally, and no time out of this space to do anything at all.
She was completely broken when we were asked to take her, so used to her sad life that there was no spark in her eye. Yet so un-used to life outside of that environment that she was terrified to leave that small, dirty space. But we got her out and very quickly she realised she was away from there and that we were showing her affection, and now she's a different dog! π
Having been with us for a few months she's now an excited, happy, bouncy girl who loves to play with toys, go for walks and have cuddles! She also loves to follow commands, picking up 'Sit' super fast and being clearly very proud of herself, sitting constantly to show off her new skill! Now she's added 'Shake' to her sitting and again is loving showing this off π
Yuki would love a home with someone who's passionate about her breed and wants to give a rescue staffy a chance. Due to her lack of experience with other dogs, she's not suitable to live with another dog or to meet dogs out socially, she just gets too excited and its too much for the other dog and when they tell her off she doesn't know how to react and loses the plot a bit. But for someone who doesn't want a dog to take to dog parks or let off at beaches etc, she's the perfect companion.
Maybe you have an apartment and are happy with a few bonded walks with your doggo a day without needing them to interact with other dogs? Or you have an acerage and are looking for a dog who'll potter around your property with you and doesn't need to be taken to parks or other dog socialising environments? Yuki is going to be a wonderful friend for you!
Although she'd be great with kids, her inexperience with dogs make her not the best dog for a family - your kids wouldn't be able to walk her around the neighborhood with certainty so she's best a dog for an adult couple or single person.
She has shown alot of positive body language around cats! She's in foster care at a home where a netted cat enclosure comes off the house and she loves to interact with the cats, play bowing at them and trying to get them to play :) With the right cat - one who's confident and can put a dog in it's place while also wanting to play with it - and with careful introductions, she could be a wonderful friends with a kitty!
As far as other dogs go, she currently has playtime with a dog who came in with her from the same backyard breeding family and is great with him, however he's submissive and doesn't have an argumentative bone in his body so there's nothing in that relationship that causes Yuki to become confused about their communication and react negatively; with a dog who was not like the male she plays with, it would not work. If you're experienced with dog behaviour and have another dog who may work with her, preferably on a large block where they can run and wrestle to burn off energy and not need to go out in public, we'd be happy to discuss her going to a home with a dog. Otherwise she should go to a no dog home and just be your special girl by herself or with a kitty friend β‘
If you're passionate about staffies and giving them a wonderful life despite them maybe not having all the characteristics of the perfect dog, Yuki is a wonderful choice for a companion and friend! If she's not for you, please share her story with anyone you know who wants to give a beautiful staffy girl a loving home π₯°
Medical notes
Yuki is a very healthy girl with no health concerns whatsoever.

π ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION
As well as working with dogs, Sunny Days runs Victoria's only specialised stray cat rehab facility in Avalon, Vic. Our rehab centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is in constant demand due to the sheer number of cats born wild, and dogs no longer wanted.
π HOW ARE WE FUNDED?
Despite the demand, we have no source of ongoing funding. Unlike public pounds who enter into contracts with local councils to be the facility responsible for housing lost animals in that municipality, volunteer-run shelters like ours do not receive any government funding, we are left to fund our work through our own pockets and community donations.
π UNABLE TO ADOPT OR VOLUNTEER BUT WOULD LIKE TO HELP?
We receive adoption fees from the animals we rehome however these are rarely, if ever, enough to cover what we spend to prepare them for new homes. Aside from adoption fees, we receive no other source of funding except donations from our community, which are invaluable to our work. You can donate by clicking the pink DONATE button on this page or via the secure options below. Thankyou so much.

π OUR WORK WITH CATS
We take in full cat colonies, pregnant and nursing mothers, ophan kittens, FIV positive cats, and sick or injured cats. Cats are humanely trapped after being identified as un-owned and we support them through full rehabilitation from wild and unhandleable to fully domesticated. We don't give them deadlines to be socialised by or they'll be euthanised, we provide sanctuary for them for as long as they need.
π OUR WORK WITH DOGS
We take in dogs from community surrenders, booked for unnecessary euthanasia by owners but vets have intervened and contacted us, or rescued from pound death row. Most of our dogs are with us for extended periods to ensure we know them really well before putting them up for adoption, and have been assessed by professional dog trainers if not worked with extensively. We provide full discretion with adopters about dogs' health and behaviour, unlimited 24-hour support, and a month-long fully refundable adoption trial to ensure dogs are given the best chance to integrate into new homes, families and lifestyles.
We also offer a lifetime guarantee to take any of our adopted cats and dogs back should something happen and their adopters are no longer able to care for them.
