8 MONTHS WITHOUT A HOME, MISHA IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL!
A few weeks ago, we busted our darling Misha out of the RSPCA, after being in there for a long 8 months she was declining in the kennel environment and her welfare was being compromised. We moved Misha into a wonderful foster home where she has had time to decompress, and settle in, showing us the true, snuggle-bug Misha.
This was always a temporary arrangement, and we now find the date where Misha needs to be moved creeping up very quickly, with nowhere for her to go. We are desperate to find Misha a forever home, so that she doesn’t have to keep being moved around, she deserves to finally find her happy ever after.
At 6.5 years old, Misha is a homebody, she is very settled in the home environment and loves hanging out in the yard in the sunshine, or snuggled up on her bed, she is a very low maintenance, easy-going girl in the home that is happy to hang out and go with the flow. Misha has become accustomed to being an indoor dog, this will need to continue in her new home, she is a good girl that doesn’t cause too much fuss.
Misha is very affectionate, once she feels safe and trusts the people around her, she is soon cuddling up on the couch and snuggling into you as much as possible, Misha will lean into your legs for pats, resting her head on your lap. Misha is looking for someone patient and understanding that will give her time to come out of her shell at her own pace, she enjoys being brushed and will happily roll over for tummy rubs. Misha is looking for a quiet home with a predictable routine, she would be best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 12.
Misha is feeling a little lost and anxious about her place in the world, she is currently on medication to help her learn to cope with everyday stress and is doing very well, the eventual plan is wean Misha off this medication. For now, Misha’s world needs to be kept very small, she is happiest at home and can become frantic when she goes for walks. Misha will need to build up to engaging with the outside world, ideally, her new home would be in a quiet area, with a decent yard so that Misha can have a safe space outdoors.
You may notice that Misha’s ear is a little floppy, she had developed ‘cauliflower ear’ where the ear tissue becomes inflamed and thickened from ongoing infections. This went untreated in Misha for a long time, and now she has a permanent small floppy ear. Misha can be prone to ear infections, however with the right treatment, she is currently ear infection free, and her ears aren’t causing her any discomfort.
Misha also has some arthritis in her hips and recently has lost a heap of weight to help with this, she is nervous of her back end being handled but gets around fairly well.
Misha will be joining our forever foster program, where GSRV will provide ongoing support for Misha’s pre-existing medical conditions.
After Misha’s time in the shelter, she has become quite reactive to other dogs, she doesn’t want them anywhere near her and will bark and lunge to scare them away. Whilst strong on lead, Misha can be moved away easily, however she would much prefer a life where she doesn’t come into close contact with any other animals as they cause her stress.
Misha loves toys, especially soft ones and any that squeak, she is very cute carrying them around everywhere and wants them all to herself. Misha gets the zoomies each morning, running around the house for a minute or so, before she is ready for another nap. Misha would suit someone who is looking for a quiet, easy companion in the home, she is fine being left alone and will happily greet you when you return home.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
