About Ava
Introducing our beautiful girl Ava
Ava is one of those beautiful girls who anyone that meets will fall in love with her and her sweet sweet nature.
Ava has come into care as a retired breeder and the rescue has ensured that all her vet work is completed so no more babies for her.
Ava has such a sweet personality but can be timid when first meeting people, a fast approach will make her nervous but a calm wait for her to come to you is the key.
Ava is 5 years and 4 months old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Ava is a quiet loving gentle girl that once comfortable and confident with her people, the fun loving cheeky and oh so beautiful side comes out and she is a joy to be around.
I know that ladies are not supposed to discuss their age or their weight but I am 5 years and 3 months old and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and weigh only 7.4 kgs
Ava is happily in care with one other small breed dog and he is a firecracker and loves to play and wrestle with her, while Ava is a very gentle girl she will stand up for herself and does it in such a gentle manner it's easily forgotten and the two of them are very firm friends. (Ava's idea of dominance is simply to push them out the way if they are becoming too much).
Ava is a quiet girl except if there is thunder or an airplane going over head and she will tell it to simply rack off and then continue with her day. She has also been known to give constructive criticism to dogs who are on tv and not doing what she wants them to do - again it's quick and just a quirk of her nature.
At the moment Ava shares her home with adults and another small dog and it's normally a calm and quiet home - this is something she would love to continue.
Ava is good around kids but not keen on kids who are loud or full of energy so maybe a home with kids over 10 would be perfect for her.
Ava would like to spend her days with living inside and having access to outside (mainly for lady business and a sniff around) she likes to be able to come in and out at leisure.
Ava also loves to go with her foster mum to the horses that she has - Ava is happy to sit and watch while they are fed or getting pats from people she is familiar with.
Ava's foster family works so while she is okay with being home alone for periods of time (she usually just snooze) she is wanting a home where she can be with her humans (either work from home, retired, shift workers, don't need to work etc etc)
Ava is fine with cats - she has lived with one before - she was very curious when she first met but after a few days was not as interested.
Ava currently sleeps on the floor in her foster mum's room (yes she has the options of dog beds) and at times will sleep on the bed with her foster brother and human depending on the weather. Ava will snooze on the couch yet mainly lies on the floor next to her foster mum working at home. Ava definitely wants to be around her human and will follow them everywhere.
Ava loves to do a daily walk or go with her foster mum to the paddocks, she loves helping and has great recall, she will also happily walk by your side and not pull on the lead.
Ava is very food driven so easy to train but also need to remember to monitor her snacks.
Ava is toilet trained and uses a doggy door.
Ava does have a coat that requires grooming. She will need grooms so that her coat stays looking good so please keep this in mind when applying as it’s an ongoing expense.
So, if you think you’re the home for Ava please apply

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
