On Hold
About Peanut - Located in Narre Warren South
Hello there! My name is Peanut, and I'm here to steal your heart with my sweet purrs and playful antics. I have a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, but don't let that fool you. I'm just as full of love and joy as any other kitten! Sure, I may wobble a bit when I walk or play, but that just adds to my charm, doesn't it?
One thing you should know about me is that I'm a total cuddlebug. I can't resist snuggling up close to my humans, soaking up all the warmth and love they have to offer. Being near them makes me feel safe and content, like nothing in the world could ever harm me. And let me tell you, I give the best kitty kisses in return!
I'm also a social butterfly. I absolutely adore spending time with other cats. Whether we're playing together or just lounging around, having feline friends around makes me feel like I belong. Plus, they're always willing to lend a helping paw with my grooming, which can be a bit tricky for me sometimes. Those wobbles can make it hard to keep myself looking as dapper as I'd like!
Speaking of wobbles, that's why I need a little extra help when it comes to certain things, like using the litter tray. But don't worry, it's nothing we can't handle together! I just need a special kind of litter box with high sides to prevent any accidents. And of course, it has to be kept nice and clean for my comfort and hygiene. After all, nobody likes stepping in dirty litter, right?
So, if you're looking for a furry companion who's equal parts sweet, playful, and just a little bit wobbly, then look no further! I'm here waiting for someone to welcome me into their home and their heart. And trust me, once you meet me, you'll wonder how you ever lived without me. So what do you say? Ready to embark on this cuddly adventure together? I sure hope so!

Medical notes
Peanut suffers from Cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological disorder where his cerebellar is slight under developed.
It affects his balance, so he walks and runs with a bit of a wobble and can fall over when he becomes unbalanced.
Peanut's condition is not infectious, but will affect him for life.
He needs to be kept indoors only, and needs a special type of litter tray as his balance issues make it harder to go to the toliet.
Peanut needs a larger litter tray with 3 high sides and one low side/opening as he finds in hard getting in and out. But needs the high sides to prevent him falling out or missing the tray when he goes.
He just sometimes falls over and would require a bigger box with a lower opening but high sides. The litter tray also needs to be cleaned 2-3 times a day for good hygiene, so that Peanut isnt falling over into dirty litter.
WORLDWIDE CAT VACCINE SHORTAGE
There is currently a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines and supplies are unlikely to be replenished until early 2024. This is due to complicated supply problems post-COVID. Our vets have limited, and in some cases no supplies available, but are prioritising kittens and previously unvaccinated Cats wherever possible.
Kittens are at the highest risk as their level of protection is very low after the initial protection provided by the mother’s antibodies. While protection will wane a little over time, a delay up to three months is unlikely to result in a significant reduction in levels of protection. It is anticipated that clinics should have regular supplies early in the new year to bring your cat back up to date.
First Vaccination completed
We will try to provide at least 1 vaccination, depending on our supplies of vaccines available, however boosters may become overdue. In this case it is your responsibility to contact your vet as soon as supplies become available. We will not be re-imbursing any of this costs.
We require all cats and kittens to be indoors only and not allowed outside. This is especially important now as there is a risk of coming into contact with unknown cats who may not be vaccinated.
No Vaccination completed
Where we are unable to provide any vaccination during their time in care with us, please contact us on 0459779888 or via email to samantha@neko.org.au, and we will arrange for one vaccination to be done at one of our partnering clinics as soon as supplies are available. Boosters after this will be your responsibility.
Please note that should you choose to utilise your own clinic, we will not be re-imbursing any costs. This is your responsibility.
