Tips to help long-termers get noticed, and get adopted!
If your pet has been listed for a couple of months without much interest, it’s time to take action. All it takes is a few simple tweaks to max your pet’s chances of finding love online.
-
BUMP IT - Make sure you hit the ‘bump’ button regularly, to keep older listings amongst the top search results. You can use the bump button once every seven days.
-
UPDATE PHOTOS - Review your pet profile photos, add some fresh shots, and enlist the help of a skilled volunteer photographer if need be, because great pics get clicks!
-
ADD VIDEO - A short video capturing your pet playing, or enjoying some pats will really help a prospective adopter fall in love. And it’s an especially good option for hard-to-photograph pets, like super wriggly kittens.
-
EDIT THE PROFILE - Revamp the profile description and best feature field to make sure your pet’s very best features are the first thing seen by potential adopters. Considering switching your approach - if you were trying something creative, opt for a heartfelt approach or vice versa. Make sure the first sentence of the profile is the absolute best, as this is what is seen on the search results page and is what ‘hooks’ adopters into finding out more about that pet. Don’t save the best ‘til last! And love is a two-way street, so make sure the emphasis is on what the pet can offer the adopter, rather than just what the pet needs.
-
SHARE IT - Make the most of the social share buttons (located below the main profile pic) to get your pet out there across multiple platforms.
-
PRINT IT - Kick it old school by printing the adoption poster (also under the main photo) and plaster it all over town! There are thousands of people searching PetRescue.com.au every day, but you never know - that perfect adopter might spot your pet out and about at their local library, bingo club, or community notice board.
-
CONTACT US - If all else fails, reach out to the PetRescue team. We are here to help! We have feature opportunities across our social media platforms (240,000+ followers) as well as our 350,000+ email subscribers.
-
UPDATE IT - Has the pet already been adopted? Awesome! Be sure to mark the listing as ‘adopted’ and celebrate another happy rehoming!
