The impact of your kindness 2020
2020 was an unforgettable year for all of us.
Thanks to your continued faith and support, we not only pushed to get more pets into Australian homes during these uncertain times but also used the unique opportunities posed by the COVID 19 pandemic (such as the surge in demand for adoptable pets) to launch new initiatives and programs to fast-track adoption and support the vital work of our member rescue organisations during this time.
Thanks to you, here are all the amazing achievements of 2020...
Lucky pets listed on PetRescue found homes in 2020...
like senior doggo, Sonic, who was adopted from the Gilgandra Shire Council pound just in time for Christmas!
Pet enquiries were made by potential adopters who chose to open their homes to pets listed on PetRescue. That’s one every 2 minutes! Your support means that PetRescue continues to provide a free pet adoption platform and be the first point of connection between pets and adopters.
Pet lovers chose PetRescue.com.au as the platform to find a rescue pet, making PetRescue the most visited charity website in Australia!
Calls for help and support from adopters, pet owners, rescue groups and shelters were handled by our small helpdesk team available all year round.
Huge time-saving for life-saving updates were added to the platform that helped rescue organisations save a total of 11,874 hours and 54 minutes, streamlining the enquiry process for adopters.
(that's, collectively, almost 1 and a half years worth of work!)
34 pets were fast-tracked to new homes
and kept out of the pound system via our life-saving Home2Home program which assists owners looking to find new and safe homes for their pets.
$40,000 invested towards groundbreaking urban stray cat research
We are proud co-sponsors of the pilot of the Community Cat Program; research to introduce humane cat management practices in Australia and providing free desexing for owned cats, semi-owned and urban stray cats in Rosewood Queensland.
…and Felix was the first kitten to be rehomed after being desexed and microchipped via the program!
$961, 966 worth of food
was donated to 7,352 at-risk pets.
That’s a whopping 95,850 kg of free food to PetRescue member rescue organisations and community outreach organisations across the country.
Working Paws Dog Rescue
$200,601 worth of dog coats
$110,000 provided in funding assistance
to rescue groups affected by COVID-19 made possible by the generosity of Animals Australia and Mars Petcare.
Hills Cat Rescue
Thanks to your support together we are there for pets and many more than we could imagine have found their homes.
Thank you for making this happen - creating happiness and saving lives 💚
