Wildlife Rescue Inc. (WRI) is calling for local rescues to register their details in their database to be contactable for assistance, should WRI receive reports of non-native animals needing help.
WRI initially facilitated (through its Call Centre and associated 1300 number) the rescue of native animals in NSW. However, based on the number of calls requesting assistance for non-native animals, WRI is gradually extending its capabilities to handle such enquiries from anywhere in Australia, by passing on calls to an appropriate local rescue group.
By enlisting the help of tree climbers (of which over 400 are listed in the database for NSW), WRI has already successfully organised the rescue of cats and dogs (and many other types of non-native animals), demonstrating the value of this collaboration.
If your organisation may be able to assist in local rescues, and is interested in being added to the database, WRI will require the following information:
- Name of organisation
- Contact phone number(s)
- Address (preferably not PO Box)
- Area of expertise (i.e. cats, dogs etc)
- Times when organisation is NOT to be contacted.
If interested, please send through your details to WRI via the contact page here.
