Concerned about receiving a 'Courtesy Alert' about PetRescue?
We’ve been contacted by a number of rescue groups who have received an unsolicited email regarding our food donation program, hashtags and tax-time donation appeal.
Have questions about our food donation program or donation appeals? Read on.
Food donation program
Now in its third year, planning for each food donation round starts three months out from delivery, with donation pick-up dates set by PETstock and Mars Petcare to work in with their logistics. More than $5.3 million worth of food has been donated via the program.
#Freefoodforrescue
This hashtag is used for each food donation round, to help us find and collate social media posts from the day to share with our partners and to thank them for the donation.
Tax time fundraising appeal
PetRescue’s 2018 tax time appeal was launched mid-May. This appeal asks web users who find our service useful to consider donating to support it (the PetRescue website is free for rescue groups and the public to use, but it is not free to run). PetRescue undertakes two major fundraisers a year - one at Christmas, and one at tax time to support the website and digital services.
Tax time communications
Tax time is one of the best times to put out a call for donations. We strongly encourage all rescue groups to contact your supporters and adopters, tell them about the great work you do, and ask for a donation to help support you in the coming year. Anyone who has had a positive experience with your rescue group - especially if it resulted in an adoption - may be keen to donate. For sustainability, it's really important to have a diverse and well-balanced mix of public donations, major gifts, grants and corporate funding.
