Welcome to our super new site
Welcome to our super new site
Finding a new furry family member just got a whole lot easier!
Our smartest kittens have been working tirelessly for the past 18 months on a major redevelopment of the PetRescue website, to give potential adopters and rescue organisations a responsive site that works across mobile, tablet and desktop.
This redevelopment is stage one of our Matchmakers project. It’s been a critical upgrade, considering over half of the potential adopters are using their mobile to search for a new furry family member.
We’ve also released a suite of new search filters to help adopters find their perfect match more quickly and easily than ever before, with the ability to filter search results by:
- I have kids under 5 years old
- I have kids under 12 years old
- I have a resident dog(s)
- I have a resident cat(s)
- Pets will be alone during work hours
In addition, these new search options will also help our rescue member organisations use their limited resources more efficiently - by streamlining the enquiry process and minimising the time spent processing enquiries that aren’t the right fit.
And this huge, behind-the-scenes change sets the foundation for even more improvements coming in the next stage of development:
Matchmakers stage two and beyond: Changing the way we communicate
We are working on technological solutions to help minimise the workload for under-resourced rescue organisations and to help ensure all prospective adopters get the response they deserve, including:
Adopter profiles
Potential adopters will be able to create and save their own detailed online adopter profile, giving rescue organisations all the essential information needed to quickly move forward in the enquiry process. This will also cut down on the need for potential adopters to complete endless forms for every single pet enquiry, something we know turns pet seekers away from rescue and towards other means of obtaining a pet.
New online enquiry management system
Enabling rescue organisations to get instant notifications via email, SMS and a new PetRescue app, including a link to the adopter's profile. There'll also be a suite of pre-written messages rescue volunteers can use to make the process quick and easy. This will enable rescue organisations to shortlist or redirect unsuitable applicants back to the website in one simple swipe or click.
We couldn’t do any of this without the amazing support of our partners Pedigree, PETstock Assist and Woolworths, as well as the generosity of the public who understand that technology plays a crucial role in helping save the lives of pets at risk.
If you have any questions or feedback or uncover any bugs or bits not working as you’d expect, please get in touch with us.
We hope you love it!
