About Central Coast Community Rescue
Central Coast Community Rescue (CCCR) is an entirely Not for Profit, volunteer based Animal Rescue charity operating on the Central Coast in New South Wales.
We are a group of animal lovers who have joined forces to start a rescue organisation that can help both animals and people in need. We are passionate, caring, dedicated and our sole purpose is to save as many lives as possible.
We rehabilitate and rehome animals from a wide variety of situations, including private surrenders, in-need pound animals and accidental litters. In the event of an accidental litter, we will rehome the babies & de-sex Mum before returning her to her owner.
All of the foster animals we have are raised in loving homes. Most of the time they will be placed in a home with other pets & kids, teaching them to thrive in a family environment. All animals that come into our care receive required health care and desexing.
We offer an open and supportive environment to Foster Carers, with a structured induction program & 24/7 carer support.
We love that adopting animals is so popular instead of buying but we often hear that it's hard to get approved.
Here's a little insight to give you more of a chance.
Imagine how you'd feel if the day came that you would have to rehome one of your children. Well that's us, we think of these foster cats and dogs like our kids.
We will only choose the most amazing home for our baby. Whether there's 100 applications or 1 if it doesn't feel right we won't approve it.
I would imagine some of the people upset about not getting approved might be the people replying to an ad simply saying
"Family with 2 kids under 10 wanting small dog"
Now if we're getting swamped with applications, whilst juggling animals, work, family, life, then we're probably going to skip past that one. Remember we're volunteers we probably don't have time to probe for more info when we have another 90 to choose from.
Try to sell yourself like it's a job interview because it is. You're applying for the position of the new mum or dad of this baby.
Tell us all about yourself, family, pets , work/ home life. Tell us what the days would look like for the baby. Tell us what training you'll do. Tell us what experience you've had. Tell us where the baby will and won't be allowed in the house. Tell us what outings you'd take the baby.
If we can start to imagine what an amazing life this baby will have we'll be begging you to adopt all our animals.
If you call the baby an "it" we may be offended, since you're replying to a description that states male or female. Remember this is our baby we rescued, raised or rehabilitated. We're sensitive about letting them go.
If you simply reply to the ad
"Is she good with cats?" And the bio literally says she likes cats.... you may be skipped over.
Include photos of your family, house and past animals.
Yesterday we posted a dog for adoption within an hour there were more than 100 applications.
If you're applying for a popular animal find a way to make us fall in love with you. But don't lie remember how many applications we read x how many animals we rescue.... means we can detect a fluffed up application.
Some carers will then send applications for you to fill out some may contact the successful applicant to come do a meet and greet.
Thank you for choosing to rescue.
