ABOUT THE CAVALIER
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a sweet, gentle, playful and affectionate breed of dog. They have a dependant personality so being with their humans most of the time is a must. They are not fans of being alone in the backyard or laundry.
Cavs really enjoy getting out everyday for a sniff, walk and run. It is a joy to see their happy tails circle! They are usually very friendly to people and other dogs. Fear, aggression and anxiety are uncommon but some can suffer from these personality traits.
A fully grown adult weighs 5.5 to 9 kgs. They come in 4 colours being Blenheim, Ruby, Black + Tan and Tri-colour. They require regular grooming as their coat is long and they shed hair so allergy sufferers will need to avoid them.
Unfortunately they are prone to heart disease (Mitral Valve Disease is a serious, progressive disease of the heart, caused by the deterioration of one of its valves and it is the leading cause of death) and dry eye (dry eye prevents the eyes being properly moistened, resulting in chronically dry, burning eyes and ulceration of the cornea which requires frequent medication every day).
