Every year, approximately 230,000* pets remain unclaimed in Australia’s pounds and shelters. That’s roughly 110,000* dogs and 120,000* cats left homeless each year. But we firmly believe there is a home for every pet and enough love to save every life. What’s more, we have the hard facts and stats to prove it’s possible to fix this by promoting pet adoption.
The Australian Pet Ownership Survey reported that 658,000 dogs and 444,000 cats were acquired in 2013^, and that a staggering 1.1 million Australian households were planning to get a companion animal in 2014^.
So, all it really takes is just 20% of all pet seekers to make the ethical choice by adopting, rather than purchasing from a pet shop or breeder, and we’d find homes for every one of our nation’s homeless pets.
Help us show Australia that by choosing to save a life they can help us save them all.
