Lara ~ 4 Year Old Cattle Dog X Foxy

Gentle Lara is a Cattle x Foxy who we think is approximately 4 years of age. Lara was saved by the local ranger who was taken by her beautiful, loving nature.

Lara is looking for a caring home where she can share her unconditional love with her human family. Her favourite activity is to snuggle up on the lounge with her humans. Although she is perfectly content to sit on the lounge, she also enjoys walking and is easy to walk on a lead. She has comfortably managed walks of up to 1 hour, quite happy trotting alongside her Beagle foster brother and following him (and his nose) into the bushes.

Lara needs a family where at least one person is home most of the time and therefore would not suit full time workers. Ideally, she would suit a retiree seeking a companion dog. She is used to sleeping indoors and will happily snuggle up in your arms and sleep the night away if allowed.

Lara has been socialised and is fine with other dogs, as long as they are also gentle natured. She is currently living with 2 Beagles who love to play fight and chase each other. Most of the time, she is happy to sit and watch, however at times, she will get involved and can enjoy active playing for a short while.

Lara hasn’t been tested with young children or cats and we recommend she be introduced slowly to other dogs initially. She would be quite happy as an only dog.

If you are after a gentle dog who will love you unconditionally and provide you with ongoing companionship, she is the perfect dog for you.

For more information or to meet Lara, please contact her foster carer Tracey on traceyleach@bigpond.com.au or 0425 316 966 via text message. Lara is in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Lara’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Snowy ~ 11 Month Old Wolfhound X

It is my absolute pleasure to introduce this beautiful young girl. Snowy is an 11 month old white Wolfhound scruffy cross and is on the small size for a wolfie. She has a very sweet and affectionate nature and is searching for her forever home with an owner who will love her to pieces and continue with her training as this girl wants to learn everything!

Snowy is currently in care with a large male dog and loves having a playmate to play zoomies with and very much enjoys chasing a ball. She jumps in the car happy to go for a ride and relishes a chance to stretch those elegant legs with a nice walk. She is not comfortable in small places, doesn’t like loud noises and prefers to eat on her own.

Her perfect home would be with older children to love and play with. She would be great with another dog for company, but if her owner was home most of the time, she would be fine as an only dog. She needs a safe and secure yard with high fences to keep her safe. She was previously an outside dog, but very much enjoys being inside with her foster mum and foster fur brother, and is very well behaved while indoors. She is not currently toilet trained, but we are hoping that won’t take too long for her to master. With a bit more training, this girl would be a wonderful addition to any family who would include her in their daily lives.

For more information please contact Snowys foster carer penny on pennyneedham88@gmail.com Snowy is located in the Newcastle area and is available for adoption interstate.

Snowy’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Molly ~ 15 Month Old Kelpie X Shar Pei

Hello there! Introducing this little cutie Molly, she is a 15 month old Kelpie X Shar Pei weighing 18kg. Molly is a friendly, loving and energetic little girl, who loves playing with her foster sisters and brother, loves her daily walk, then curling up on the lounge for a well-deserved nap.

Molly loves meeting new people, it doesn’t take her long to show them her affectionate side. She gets on well with other dogs (small or large), she hasn’t had the opportunity to be with cats or children, but with her friendliness and non-aggression we don’t see a problem.

Molly currently sleeps inside on her cosy bed in the lounge room, she is toilet trained and her obedience training is going well, she know the basic commands i.e. sit, stay, no, ok, don’t touch, shake hands and comes when her name is called. Loves her walks but tends to pull at times and shows some minor aggression to people or dogs whilst walking.

Molly will grow to be a medium sized dog. Molly loves attention and is happy to couch surf with a loving arm around her.

Molly will be very happy to have an older dog as a teacher, companion and playmate as she needs to be occupied during the day if family work or at school. She would be best suited to an active family with school age children to continue her training and daily walks to release her energy.
Molly is a very good girl who just wants to love you and be loved; she will continue to grow to be a great family dog. She is looking forward to starting a new life with a forever family as they will gain respect and loyalty from her for years to come.

Buddy ~ 13 Month Old Border Collie X

My name is Buddy I am a 13 month old Border Collie X boy. I am very handsome as I have a unique coat of distinguished markings including a spotty ear. I am in need of a new loving, forever home.

I am an active young dog who would like an energetic family that are happy to take me out and about to the beach or park. I love to run, play and I just live for the dog park where I can find some friends to play with.

I have some basic obedience skills such as sit, stay and comes when called. I am very smart but would benefit from some training. I am not a barker but will growl (or let out a little woof) at strangers entering uninvited. I am fantastic in that I do not dig or chew if bored or left at home during the day.

I get a little excited when I meet you for the first time but I settle down quickly. I need to be allowed inside and be included in family time. I am so inquisitive and love nothing more than coming in and having a stickybeak at what everyone is doing but then I settle on my bed when told.

I would suit a family with children 10 years and up. It would be great if someone was home some of the time but I would also suit working family, young single adult or a couple that will exercise me everyday and include me all the time. Being a young dog, I would also suit a doggy friend.

If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please contact Michelle who is taking all enquiries for him on 0423262133. He is located in Valentine, Newcastle and is available for adoption interstate.

Buddy’s adoption fee is $450. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Albus ~ 5 Month Old Border Collie X

Hi my name is Albus! I’m a pretty happy black, white and tan puppy who loves to come in for cuddles with my foster mums. I’m 5 months old and I was told I was born on Melbourne Cup Day - so I’m pretty sure that makes me super lucky too! I’m a Border Collie x (cute) and have a nice shiny coat!

I’m still going through my puppy stage right now and sometimes I forget my manners ... but my mums tell me I will get better with practice. I’m good walking on the lead with my harness. My Mums tell me I’m very smart and learn quickly, although I might need a little more training on how to socialise with stranger dogs as I’ve not been around that many yet.

I currently live with a cat-who sadly doesn’t enjoy my trying to lick her or watch her intently but I’m mostly just curious about her. I get along with my foster brother very well.
I’m not overly fussed on baths but my Mums tell me it’s for the best and I like car rides.

I’m looking for my new furever home, I would like an older sibling, to be allowed in the house and I will need help teaching me more manners. I also need high fences and no escape holes - I can jump pretty high for a little one! I just want to find myself a family who’ll love me and let me be a part of their family. Are you my new family?

As Albus is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he's older.

For more information or to meet Albus, please contact his foster carer on Laura on Laura.Sumner@uon.edu.au. Albus is in Islington, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).

Albus' adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.

Bean ~ 4 Year Old Staffy X

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION: Let me introduce you to Bean. Bean is a friendly, just over 4 years old, Staffy x. This boy is looking for a new home that he could be someone’s companion dog.

Bean was his previous owner’s constant companion and went everywhere with him including work so is very use to being secured in the back of a ute. So if you are a tradie, this boy would be ideal for you.

Bean is great with children and would be happy to be a family dog as long as someone is home some of the time or he goes with you. He tends to get upset if left alone for long periods of time.

Bean does enjoy a walk and having a walking harness would be ideal for him. He can be reactive to other dogs when out walking, as many dogs are when on lead but has proven to be dog friendly off lead. Bean enjoys the friendship of other dogs but would be better with a female dog or as an only dog as just loves the company of people best. Bean isn’t sure of cats.

Bean sleeps inside and is toilet trained. He likes nothing more then to lay at your feet and relax. Bean has had basic training.

Bean would suit a family with older children, he would be ideal on a property or with a retired couple. Bean’s ideal new owner would be someone that could take him to work with him as this is what he is use to.

If you would like to meet Bean, please contact Michelle on 0427616762 or email mgsheather@bigpond.com. he is located at Tanilba Bay NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Bean’s adoption fee is $300 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

No photo for Timmy ~ 1 Year Old Kelpie X

Timmy ~ 1 Year Old Kelpie X

Meet Timmy, the loveable and friendly 1.5 year old Kelpie boy. Timmy recently came into care from no fault of his own. Timmy was previously in a loving home but was regretfully surrendered by his owner who became too unwell to care for him any longer.

Timmy is an adorable, loyal, loving and family-oriented dog. He just loves being around humans and is always eager to please. He is always happy and his face is nearly always “smiling” back at you. Timmy has been in foster care for 6 weeks and in this time he has learnt many skills and how to behave like a good boy. Timmy loves to play chasing games with his foster sister or foster dad, and he will also amuse himself with toys, or dig in the sandpit at his foster home. Of an evening Timmy will settle down for the night at your feet and have a chew on a chew-toy or bone, or happily have a snooze while you do your own thing. Timmy is not currently allowed on the lounge at his foster home and he respects this rule very well. However, Timmy is still a very affectionate dog who loves a cuddle and belly rubs with his foster parents. Who knows, maybe he’ll be allowed on the lounge at his forever home?

Timmy is a working dog and has high energy levels during the day. He would love someone in his life who can commit to taking him for a run or a long walk every morning. Timmy is still a young dog and his energy will make him excited and boisterous at times. However, if he has had his walk, he is an absolute angel! Timmy must go to a home with another playful or high energy dog and/or an owner who will commit to spending lots of time and energy with him. Being a Kelpie x, Timmy must go to a home with a very secure yard and high quality fences at least 6 foot high.

Timmy would be most happy on a property where he has enough space to run and play. He will need a home with a decent sized back yard or better yet, a large property. Timmy is currently in foster care in a typical suburban backyard and is coping fine with daily walking and play time with his foster sisters.

Timmy is quite intelligent and has responded well to training. He has already learnt to sit, stay and has learnt good manners and how to behave inside the house. Timmy is very eager to please and training him should be a breeze for someone willing to put in the time and effort. Timmy gets excited when it’s time for a walk and will to pull on the lead a little bit initially while walking, but he settles down to a nice pace quite quickly. He could benefit from training to heel or the use of a Halti-harness.

Being a young dog, Timmy enjoys a good dig, and generally only does so in his sandpit. This is normal for his age and this will most likely settle right down after he is 2 years of age. Timmy only barks briefly let to you know if someone is near the yard and as such will be a good guard dog. Timmy is not an anxious dog and he has learnt that it’s ok to spend time on his own. He will benefit from a regular routine in his forever home, whatever that may be. Timmy is great with kids and has been around children as young as 1 year old. Timmy is house trained and can be left inside with people no problems. Timmy currently sleeps inside the laundry with a doggy door so he can come and go as he pleases during the night. He does not like being locked in (with the doggy door shut) and would most likely be happy to sleep in a similar environment or outside in a kennel.

Overall, Timmy is a very good boy who just wants to love you and be loved. He will continue to grow to be a great and loyal family dog.

For more information or to meet Timmy, please contact Donna on 0466 099 426 or Timmypebmilo@hotmail.com.Timmy is in foster care in Cameron Park, NSW (Newcatle) and is available for adoption interstate.

Timmy’s adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Dakota ~ Border Collie X Puppy

Introducing gorgeous little Dakota. A loveable, bouncy puppy with an inquisitive personality. Dakota is a pleasure to look after with her playful antics and affectionate nature.

Dakota loves company and is not a dog to leave alone in your backyard. She just wants to follow you around and loves nothing better than falling asleep on your lap on the lounge. Dakota is a confident, robust puppy with a lovely nature. She is currently living with an older Labrador and enjoys following him around for walks and curling up with him to sleep.

Dakota is very well behaved and easy going for a puppy. She is smart and easy to train and just wants to please. She loves her food and will sit and wait patiently for her dinner. She is not toilet trained, but learning fast.

Dakota had a rough start to life and her history and breeding are unknown. She most likely has a sheep dog background and will be a high energy dog that will need plenty of regular exercise to keep her mind and body healthy. She does have mellow side to her, however, and is happy to laze around during the day.

Dakota would be ideally suited to a family that will incorporate her into their daily lives and have her in the home. She would be better suited to older children who can participate in training her. She does need company so she would suit an adult that is home more often than not and she would be a great friend for a calm, larger companion dog . She is not suited to younger children, smaller dogs or cats because she can become boisterous whilst playing. She will grow into a medium to large sized dog and needs high secure fences to keep her safe.

As Dakota is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.

If you are after a gentle, loving and faithful companion then Dakota is the puppy for you please contact her foster mum Lucy on 0434 430 720 or lucyhollard@idl.com.au. Dakota is in Whitebridge, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).

Frankie ~ 8 Month Old Cattle Dog X Kelpie

Hi my name is Frankie. I am an 8 month old Cattle x Staffy girl who is looking for a new foster carer or a new home. I really need someone to look after me.

I have loads of energy and am lots of fun to be around. I haven’t had much training and get super excited around people and jump up to say ‘hello” so definitely would benefit from someone who could give me the time and patience to teach me some basic training and new things. I can sit and will come when called. I am toilet trained but do regress when in a new environment so just need a little reminding. I am smart so won’t take me long.

I have been included in the family and have never slept outside so really need to be allowed inside of a night. I just love watching TV with everyone. I am happy to be outside through the day.

I love other dogs and it would be great if I had another doggy friend for company but if someone is home some of the time through the day I am okay to be an only dog.

My favourite thing to do is play fetch, not with a ball but … with a sock. So hopefully you have some odd socks that can be my toy.

Could someone please be my foster carer or new family?

Since I am still a young girl I would suit a family but maybe with older kids since I am so excitable. I enjoy a walk but it would be great if I had a walking harness as I do tend to pull.

If you would like to meet me, please contact Sharron on 0423331057 or sstudley3@bigpond.com. At the moment I live at in Adamstown Height and am available for adoption interstate.

Frankie’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Bonnie is a lovely 19 month old Kelpie X. She is a smart and friendly girl who has a beautiful black coat and gorgeous eyes.

Bonnie always wants a cuddle and will happily sit on your lap and sleep. She gets on well with other dogs and loves to play. She also loves her dinner.

Bonnie will grow up to be a medium sized dog. Being a Kelpie, she will have a lot of energy and need a good walk, preferably a run every day. She is already demonstrating she will be a particularly loyal, smart and alert dog - as a working breed she will be highly trainable.

Bonnie is toilet training and her obedience training is coming along well. We always recommend training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.

Bonnie would love to have another dog to keep her company. She would like to find a family who enjoys having their dog be part of all aspects of their life, from weekend outings to cuddling up inside in the evenings. As an active breed, she will need a decent sized yard with good fencing.

Isis ~ Lovely Kelpie X Cattle Dog Puppy

Hello my name is Isis, pronounced E sis like the Egyptian goddess. I am a 4 month old Kelpie x Cattle Dog girl and still getting bigger and cuter every day. I have been living with my two best pals Maya and Pongo who are teaching me how to be a good girl. We often go to the park where I am obedient and play nicely with other people and animals.

I love playing with Maya and Pongo and I am not scared that they are bigger and stronger. I’m pretty cheeky and I’m always ready to sneak behind them. I would need another buddy to keep me company as I have always been around other dogs and I wouldn’t know what to do all alone.

I am curious of everything and it’s easy to tell when I you get my attention – one of my ears goes straight up and the other one is flapping while I tilt my head on the side. I am a very smart girl too. I will always come back when you call me and sit when you say so.

I love learning new tricks, like skateboarding for example. I run along my humans or pull them as they go. I also jump all by myself into the car whenever you ask me to even though it was pretty scary only a few weeks ago.

I am always full of energy and that’s why my foster mum thinks I would be best suited for an experienced dog owner. Even though I’m quite energetic, I still love a good nap and I can do it wherever and whenever. I also love cuddling with my humans and I will run from the other side of my garden just to jump on you and lick you to show you all my love.

As I am not yet desexed, I am is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because I'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when I’m approximately 5 months old.

No photo for Gemma ~ 6 Year Old Cattle Dog X

Gemma ~ 6 Year Old Cattle Dog X

Hi there! My name is Gemma but my foster Mum affectionately calls me Potato Gem. I am a 6 year old medium sized Cattle X (possibly with Border Collie). I personally am the perfect height to pat while you’re sitting down. I weigh 22kgs and have a bit of a mum tum because I've had lots of puppies, but that’s one of the many reasons that make me so special. I was recently desexed and now I'm ready to find my someone special to be there little shadow.

My favourite things include hanging out with people, cuddles, pats, kisses, rolling in the grass, sleeping, and food! But by far I just love the car, open the door and I'm right in there!

I'm starting to play with my foster brother and sister, starting to play with balls and soft toys, and swim in the dam. This is all new to me but my foster parents have been watching me come out of my shell and know that I will continue to shine in my new home. I’m even starting to leave their side and do my very own exploring on my own through the back yard.

I'm very food orientated and learn very quickly. I know the words leave it, sit and come really well, stay is a hard one because I just want to be with you so badly but I’ll get there with practice. I am also getting good at waiting until I’m told I can have my breakie. I’m also very, very well toilet trained and know certain rooms are out of bounds, so I make an excellent inside dog (this is where I currently sleep). I’m so special that I hope you would like to let me
do the same at your home. I am also great on the lead and do not pull. I’m not destructive, I
do not dig or pull clothes off the line etc.

I’ve loved playing with the neighbours kids and their dogs, and I’ve also visited disabled people, both of which I was very gentle with. I would suit a huge range of families. Though I am a Cattle x I’m very much a couch potato who would like a daily walk or a backyard to run with you in. As I’ve gotten fitter my foster parents have seen an active side of me so I would also suit an active family that includes me in all their activities and outings.

At first I had very bad separation anxiety but once I found out knew my foster family were coming back I become much more settled. I’m okay for a few hours inside on my bed during the day and my foster family have been extending this time so now I am starting to hang outside when they are not home. I am enclosed in farm height mesh fencing and I’m slowly getting better at watching my foster family leave home without fretting. I know I’ll get better and better once I’m more settled, I just need routine, reassurance and time. I certainly would prefer a family where someone was home a lot, as I dearly want to be someone’s little sidekick.

I also like doggie company, but I would not be suited to someone with a dominant female
dog. Besides my foster brother and sister, I also live with horses, chickens and ducks, each day I’m getting better and better and more relaxed and I’m learning that they are family to! I have not yet been tested with cats.

I truly am a bundle of affection. If you are after a gentle dog who will love you unconditionally
and provide you with ongoing companionship, I am the perfect dog for you.

For more information or to meet Gemma, please contact her foster carer Chelsea on 0477977167 or chelseakim9018@gmail.com Gemma is in foster care in Clarence Town, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Daisy ~ 7 Month Old Staffy X Kelpie

Sweet Daisy is a 7 month old Staffy x Kelpie, tan and white with a stunning white streak on the back of her neck.

Daisy is still a pup and loves to run and play. Her favourite game is to chase the ball, hasn’t quite got that “ bring the ball back bit” right yet. Daisy’s big girl teeth are still coming through and she loves to chew so lots of chew toys and raw bones are a must.

Daisy’s favourite “things” are chew toys, raw bones, digging in the play area, going for walks and riding in the car safely secured with the window down so the wind can blow through her coat.

Being only young Daisy is a little timid around new things so a patience is a must. Daisy likes children but does not like it when children run at her, fast movements are scary for a young girl. Soap and water are not high on Daisy’s “likes “ list, baths may take some persuasion and lots of positive reinforcement.

Ideal home for Daisy would have wide open spaces with room to run with an active family or maybe Daisy would make a good running partner when she’s older. Ideally a patient owner who wants an active companion. Daisy is more suited to older children who are experienced with dogs and are willing to help train Daisy.

Special request for Daisy! She would love a doggy companion as she loves the company of other dogs preferably around the same age.

For more information or to meet Daisy, please contact her foster carer Penny on pennyneedham88@gmail.com. Daisy is in foster care in Cessnock area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Daisy’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Samson has been allowed to come and go in and out of the house as he pleases, but he sleeps inside in his bed at night. He is now ready for their forever homes and eagerly awaits someone who has the time to further his training.

Samson is a very social little boy and will need to go to a home where he will have an older furkid for a companion and mentor or someone who does not work full time.

As Samson currently weighs only 15kg we expect him to grow up to be a medium sized dog.

Samson’s brother Squiggle is also available for adoption http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/614449/

As Samson is not desexed yet, he will be only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he is approximately 5 months old.

If you would like to know more about Samson or organise a meet and greet please call Doreen on Doreen.newton2@bigpond.com Samson is in foster care near Singleton, NSW.

Samson’s adoption fee is $550 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Max ~ 3 Year Old Kelpie X

Meet marvellous Max, a 3 year old Kelpie cross. Max is a friendly and energetic boy who loves being around people and other dogs. He is playful and enjoys running games, playing tug of war, the paddle pool and lives for pats and cuddles. Max already has some basic training and understands sit, come, stay and down. Being a Kelpie, Max loves getting out and about and would make a great running partner.

Max is currently living with 2 other dogs and gets on well with both. He walks well on a lead with other dogs and alone (he currently uses a harness). Max’s glossy black coat does shed and he will need regular brushing. He is untested with cats in close quarters but has not reacted to them on walks. Max spends most of the day outside, but loves time inside to relax and be with his human family. He will bark to alert you to people being around.

Max currently sleeps inside in a crate through the night and once lights are out doesn’t stir until the morning. Max has done well with his housetraining. He has lived with a family with young children and has a loving personality (people are likely to be licked all over), however as Max is a large boy he could easily knock a small child over. He would be best with a family without young children under 5.

Max has not shown any tendency to dig under or jump over fences, but will need secure fencing and gates with a minimum 5 feet. He has an excellent appetite and currently eats a combination of quality dry food and fresh mince. On his walks Max is always eager to make new friends – human and animal. He would love to live with a family prepared to give him plenty of exercise, cuddles and perhaps another doggy friend to keep him company. Max is a beautiful boy who deserves a loving forever home.

For more information or to meet Max, please contact his foster carer Lee-Anne on 0412588816
or burkeleeanne7@gmail.com. Max is in foster care in Lake Munmorah, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Max adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Jee ~ 2 Year Old Staffy

Meet Jee who is a happy go lucky 2 year old brindle Staffy. Jee is good with cats, chooks, birds and pocket pets, however he would be more than happy to be an only dog as he likes all the attention to himself. He has lived happily with dogs before but he doesn’t like them in his face. He is absolutely amazing with children, he doesn't run and jump and enjoys playing footy with the kids in the backyard.

Jee also loves the water, walking and playing in the water or with the hose and going to the dog beach. Jee also walks very well on lead and is obedient. However, he does need strong leads as he will chew through material straps if your not watching.

Jee adores human company and will do best with someone home the majority of the time. He needs to be allowed inside and included as part of the family and must sleep inside. He will be your shadow if you let him.

Jee needs good secure fencing and he will need time to settle in as he may get anxious at first if he thinks you’re leaving him. This should rectify once he has settled into his new home.
If you're looking for a dog that would make a great family pet, Jee is your boy.

For more information or to meet Jee, please contact Donna on Timmypebmilo@hotmail.com or 0466 099 426. Jee is in foster care at Bobs Farm , NSW and is not available for adoption interstate.

Jee’s adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Luna ~ Greyhound X

Luna is an adorable 2 year old female Greyhound cross that ticks all the boxes. She's energetic and bubbly and just loves life.

Luna is great with other dogs but she is very protective of her food and we believe she would benefit from living with an experienced family who could manage the meal time. She's fantastic and gentle with children and has lived with 2 cats and used to sleep with one of them.

Luna is housetrained and can be an inside/outside dog but would love to sleep inside. She has basic obedience, knows sit, shake, lay down, spin and speak. She is crate and mat trained.

Luna walks well on lead (she loves her walks) and has good recall. She isn't a barker or a jumper (5 ft fencing will be fine). Luna really does have a beautiful nature and ideally her perfect home would be somewhere with another dog to play with and a place where she will be included as part of the family. She is a medium size dog.

For more information or to meet Luna, please contact Donna on Timmypebmilo@hotmail.com or 0466099426. Luna is in foster care in Warabrook, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

No photo for Ted ~ 3 Year Old Red Kelpie X

Ted ~ 3 Year Old Red Kelpie X

Hi! I'm Ted. 3yo, red kelpie x. My foster carers tell me I’m an adorable, bouncy, fun, smart, handsome, stubby tailed (it’s very cute) little man. The things I like best are: food and treats, playing with grown up humans in the back yard, snuffling around the garden, being cuddled, stroked, getting my tummy scratched, getting brushed, cuddling on my blanket in the evening beside my humans whilst they watch TV, lying on an old couch overlooking the yard and did I say treats?

I also love when it’s hot and my human and I play with the hose. I jump up and catch the water in my mouth. It’s also fun to chase a big ball in the garden and chew toys. I’m great at chewing and my human says I’m the best because I only chew my things and no one else’s.

I have very good basic training. I know how to sit and lie down, wait at my bowl for my dinner and go to bed without a fuss. I’m okay for a few hours on my own in the laundry on my bed with my blanket and some toys during the day, but I don’t like being left alone for a very long time. I would be very sad if I was on my own most of the time every day or always kept in the yard.

My humans aren't sure how old I am. They think I am about 3 or 4 but they know I’m still a young dog. When I was little, the rangers saw me running around a town near Newcastle. It took them a long time to catch me. They thought I was special and looked after me and gave me to DRN to find me a forever home.

When I see other dogs, I get very frightened and I bark at them quite a lot. Being around dogs or next door to yard dogs, is my least favourite thing. Being on a lead is my second least favorite thing because when on a walk, you never know when you may come across another scary dog. My foster human thinks I maybe never got to play with other dogs or maybe bigger dogs attacked me when I was a puppy and that’s possibly why I find other dogs scary. My foster carer helps me feel safe by not taking me to places where there are other dogs, speaking to me kindly, being patient and playing with me. My carer says she thinks I was maybe have been hit by a loud, angry person when I was little because I get very anxious and cower down and put my ears back when I hear loud voices. DRN can recommend a very good force-free trainer to help me get over my fears, or you can just keep me away from other dogs.

I’d love to have a forever home that had a big yard with a solid high fence so I can’t see things that frighten me through it and without any dogs in the adjoin yards. I’d like a forever home where I am the littlest and most energetic in the house. I need a human who would understand that I have not had the best start in life, that I can be anxious when things change and that I need you to be patient, kind and have time for me and enjoy having me to play with in your yard and in your home. I’m loving, cuddly and fun when I feel safe. And just so you know, I do like treats.

For more information or to meet Ted, please contact Bronwen by phone (preferred) 0413 729 229 or email br0nn13@hotmail.com (that's a number zero in the address not the letter o). Ted is in foster care in Lake Macquarie NSW (south of Newcastle), and is available for adoption interstate.

Ted's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Nikki ~ Kelpie X

Nikki needs a loving forever home, she is a sweet natured 2-year- old Kelpie X. Apart from her good looks with golden coat highlights she is very loyal and loving and would like nothing else but to be part of your life. She loves going for walks and playing with her ball. Nikki loves playing and swimming in water, with toys or people, just to finish the day with a nice long nap at your feet.

Nikki comes when she is called, and will sit and shake hands and wait calmly for her meals. Nikki is not a fence jumper or barker unless she is alerting you to something. She loves to lean on you and melt onto your feet when you are sitting. She is well mannered and knows not to jump on the bed or couch unless she is allowed. Nikki is currently in kennels where she gets on with lots of other dogs. Nikki walks well in a harness but would benefit from ongoing training. She is very smart and a
fast learner. Travels well in the car.

Nikki could suit a family with older children who are confident with playful dogs, or active people who can take her on adventures. She does warm up to some people quicker than the others.

Nikki would like lots of company so if you are home alot or have another dog to keep her busy, Nikki is the girl for you. She has not been cat, chicken or pocket-pet tested as yet.

Nikki is toilet trained, can use a doggy door and sleeps inside. She would be better suited to a country lifestyle on a small property (a dam would be a nice addition).

For more information or to meet Nikki, please email John on Johnpgid@yahoo.com.au. Nikki is located in Port Stephens NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Nikki's adoption fee is $450 and includes her desexing, vaccination, treatment for fleas and worms, microchipping, and lifetime registration.

No photo for Clyde ~ 1 Year Old Bull Arab X

Clyde ~ 1 Year Old Bull Arab X

Meet Clyde, the loveable and friendly 1 year old Bull Arab X boy. He is a very loyal and loving dog who is learning how to play with toys, and loves a cuddle with his foster parents, and running and playing with his foster sister, who is a similar sized dog and slightly older.

Clyde was rescued from death row at a local pound where he had been for a month, which left him quite timid, undernourished and with a few bad habits. He can be shy at first, though with some kindness and affection he has quickly come out of his shell. He is eager to please, but being only about a year old still has a bit of puppy behaviour to overcome. He has shown no aggression, and seems happy for his foster sister to be the boss. He has met our cat and whilst wary, does seem fond of it.

During his time in foster care Clyde has not spent much time around children, but he does seem to like people in general, although he can get a bit excited and sometimes wants to jump, which might be intimidating for children, especially given his size.

Clyde must go to a home with another playful or high energy dog or an owner who will commit to spending lots of time and energy with him. He must also go to a home with a very secure yard and high quality fences. Clyde would be most happy on a large property where he can run and play, however he is currently in foster care in a typical suburban backyard and is coping fine with daily walking and play time with his foster sister.

Prior to coming into care, he had no formal obedience training and is still quite boisterous, largely due to his age. He is quite intelligent and has responded well to training. He has already learnt to sit and has started to learn good manners and how to behave. Clyde is very eager to please and training him should be a breeze for someone willing to put in the time and effort. It’s likely he has not spent much time on a lead prior to coming in to care and such has tended to pull while walking, but he is responding well to training to walk a suitable pace. This will need to be continued by his new owners.

Clyde is also a bit sooky when he is left outside on his own away from his foster sister or when he wants to come inside. He is a little anxious but will benefit from a regular routine and company in his forever home. He was not house trained before he came into care but has picked it up very quickly, and now loves being inside and getting cuddles on the lounge. He now only does the odd little wee to mark his territory in the house but this should not be an issue any longer once his hormones settle down, and with further training. He currently sleeps outside in a kennel with his foster sister.

Overall, he is a very good boy who just wants to love you and be loved. He will continue to grow to be a great and loyal dog.

For more information or to meet Clyde, please send your completed questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx to his foster carer Kellie at roxdarstudio@hotmail.com. Clyde is in foster care in Newcastle West, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Clyde’s adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Twiggy ~ Wolfhound X Border Collie Puppy

Twiggy is an 11 week old, female, Wolfhound x Border Collie puppy. She is a sweet, people-loving girl who will follow you around. Twiggy is easy-going and friendly and will be a great family dog.

Twiggy is a very healthy little puppy who has been raised in a home environment. She has been very well socialised with other puppies and adult dogs (small and large) and gets along well with them all. She's met lots of people and is friendly and affectionate with them.

Twiggy will grow up to be a medium to large dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.

It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Twiggy. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.

Twiggy needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 8 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps. She can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).

Twiggy's brothers Calvin and Klein are also available for adoption.

As Twiggy is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.

For more information or to meet Twiggy, please phone her foster mum Robyn on 02 4953 7115. Please leave a detailed message and she'll ring you back. Twiggy is in Glendale, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).

Magnum ~ Cute Staffy X Border Collie Puppy

Hi! My name is Magnum. If you’re looking for a new Best Mate, PICK ME! I am a handsome dude (just like Magnum PI) if I do say so myself. I am also as yummy as the ice cream. I am an 11 week old Staffy x Border Collie puppy. I am a little puppy who just wants to fill your life with cuddles, love and cuteness! I am always happy, especially when following you around helping with chores or on your lap!

After a rough start to life, I am now thriving. I currently sleep in a crate in my foster parents’ room and go all night with no accidents. I cry when I need to go out to the toilet. I also like to put myself to bed when tired.

I will grow to be a medium sized dog. I will need plenty of exercise and stimulation, so I will need to go to an active home where I can be taken for long daily walks (when I am over 1 year old) and included as part of the family. I will also need secure fencing. My dream life would be being included in every aspect of your life including weekend adventures to the beach, snuggling up inside with you in the evenings, and regular visits to dog parks to meet new friends.

I would love another dog to live with for company if someone cannot be home most of the time with me. Since I am still s baby I will need someone to be home most of the time as I still need to have 4 regular meals a day.

I am currently in foster care with other dogs, cats and chickens and am friendly and playful with them all (although I'm not allowed to chase the chickens).

I am smart and eager to please and am coming on well with basic training, but will need continued work in toilet training and lead walking with my new family. I would thrive with further obedience training and socialisation so that I can be a pleasure to live with.

As I am not yet desexed, I am only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because I'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when I am approximately 5 months old.

For more information or to meet Magnum, please contact his foster carer Alisa on azproudaz7@gmail.com Magnum is in East Seaham, NSW (near Raymond Terrace).

Magnum's adoption fee is $550 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.

No photo for Holly ~ Friendly Mixed Breed

Holly ~ Friendly Mixed Breed

Introducing Holly - a small and affectionate 3 year old Shar-Pei cross girl who loves people. Holly is a soft natured girl who thrives on your affection and is eager to please you. She snuggles in to your legs for a pat and will roll onto her back for a belly rub. She weighs approximately 17kg so is quite small in size.

Holly has a plush fluffy coat, an expressive face and soulful brown eyes. Apart from the broadness of her nose and face she doesn't really look like a Shar Pei and it's hard to tell what other breeds are in her mix - possibly cattle dog or an unknown small breed. Regardless of her breed mix she's a gorgeous and attentive young girl who wants to learn.

Holly is very praise and touch focused - she also enjoys small pieces of cabanosi for her training. She can be a food snob with standard treats like schmacko's - this girl likes the yummy stuff!! She requires a new home who will teach her that she doesn't need to guard her humans and to do advance training with her. She knows how to sit, but she needs to focus on "stay" and learn not to jump and bounce around for a pat. She will need to have positive lead training as she will bark at other dogs whilst on a walk - due to her resource guarding tendencies and lead training requirements she is best suited to a family who have experienced these qualities in dogs previously.

Holly likes meeting new people - she will happily welcome anyone into the yard and ask for a pat (she isn't a good guard dog!) She doesn't bark often and is content in the yard on her own when you're out. She would thrive in a home where she is allowed inside when her family are home - she will wait at the back door until she's allowed in. She will need boundaries when inside to ensure she knows that the couch or other furniture is not hers. Holly doesn't understand squeaky toys or ball games at all so she would enjoy a bones or treat-dispensing toys like kongs whilst you're out.

We would like this lovely little bundle of affection to be adopted into a home as a single dog so that her training can be the focus. She hasn't had much positive dog socialisation so she will need her new family to work on socialisation in a positive and controlled way. She is not suited to dog parks at this stage. She currently lives with two children and she adores them - however due to her need to learn to share we would prefer a home without kids. Older teenagers who can assist with her training may be an OK match.

For more information on Holly please contact Jo on Jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com . Holly is currently in foster care near Wyong on the NSW Central Coast. She is not available for interstate adoption.

Holly's adoption fee is $450 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration.

Ralph ~ 6 Month Old Cattle Dog

Introducing the handsome Ralph! Ralph is a 6 month old Stumpy Tail Cattle X. Ralph is very friendly with people and dogs and just loves to play. He is currently in foster care with 4 other dogs and gets along well with them.

Ralph understands basic commands like sit, although he didn't have a name when he was rescued from the pound so he is still learning to respond to his name. Ralph would love for his furever family to continue his training as he is a very smart dog and picks things up quickly. Ralph's foster parents are currently working on his house training and he has only had a couple of accidents.

Ralph is very affectionate, although due to his size his foster parents would recommend older children or children who have experience with larger dogs. Ralph is a very playful dog and loves his toys.

Ralph would love to go to a furever home where he has another playmate to keep him company, although this is not necessary.

Ralph is quite happy to be outside during the day and sleeps inside at night. Ralph will need a secure yard with high fencing.

Ralph would make the perfect addition to any family.

Fairy is a loyal and loving 2 year old Border Collie x Kelpie looking for her forever home. She is a smart dog who loves stimulating games and is very good at soccer! She would make a wonderful companion and suit an active family who has the time to play and engage with her. While Fairy would benefit from more training, being such a clever girl, she would probably learn quickly.

Fairy is well behaved and gentle with children (including small children). She gets along with other dogs but has not yet been tested with other animals (including cats).

Fairy is a medium sized dog, weighing 15 kg and can sleep indoors or outdoors. However if she is going to be outside, be sure to keep her behind high fences when off the lead as she can be quite the escape artist!

Fairy does not bark much but she is protective of her humans and will tell you when someone is approaching the house.
