Say hello to Pixie! Pixie is a sweet 17 week old female Bull Arab x Koolie x Dane puppy. Pixie has a gentle quiet nature and she loves children.
Pixie adores short bursts of play- followed by long naps, preferably near you. She is socialising well and is nothing but sweet. Pixie would love nothing more than to be on your lap being patted and talked to all day. She loves attention, but doesn’t fret when you walk away.
Pixie is a very calm puppy. She is learning the basics well, though will greatly benefit from puppy school. She is likely to be a larger dog and despite showing no early signs of escaping, she will require good gates, fencing and a backyard large enough for her to stretch her legs.
Pixie seems just as happy one on one as in a group, though can be timid as times - she certain needs to continue building on her confidence. Toilet training is coming along nicely and she sleeps by herself inside happily. She walks well on a lead and is not a barker. She loves children and loves trips in the car – she will be the perfect family dog.
Pixie's sister Kota is also available for adoption.
As Pixie is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Pixie, please email her foster mum Olivia at firstname.lastname@example.org. Pixie is in foster care in the Port Stephens area, NSW (north of Newcastle).
Pixie's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Hi, I am Kota and I like warm hugs! I am a 17 week old female Bull Arab x Koolie x Dane puppy and as cute as a button. My foster mum has nicknamed me Shadow, as I love to always be near her. Given the chance, I will crawl up and snuggle in right next to you.
I really am the sweetest girl and I am very eager to learn. I am currently working on mastering walking on a lead, house training, general commands like sit and shake and also using my manners for meal times. I have become really good at sleeping in a crate at bedtime. I am currently sleeping inside until I can be happy being away from my foster family at night time.
Since I am still a puppy I can be a bit cheeky, but I have yet to chew anything up and I do not seem to be a digger. When it comes to typical puppy traits, I do have my puppy bark and when I get lonely I can try to get your attention. I am working on this. I am hoping to continue being a good girl and with some proper puppy training and continuous work, I will be an amazing smart doggie. I really do have a lot of potential to become the best family fur-member.
I like having a playmate but I am also happy being a single dog with lots of affection from my foster family. I love being a part of the family and hanging out with them while they are inside or outside. I’ll need a yard to play in with good fencing as I will grow up to be a big girl.
Kota's sister Pixie is also available for adoption.
As Kota is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
If you would like to meet this gorgeous girl or know more about her, please email her foster mum Mary at email@example.com Kota is currently being fostered in the Port Stephens area, NSW (about an hour north of Newcastle).
Kota's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Introducing Rosie – a 1 and a half year old German Shepherd x Mastiff mix girl who is a total sweetheart. Rosie has big doe eyes and a soft grey coat - she loves people of all ages and is happy to meet new people with a wag of her tail and a smile. The kids say she is like Scooby-Doo, she loves her food as has big floppy ears.
Rosie is a sleek and tall girl which just means there is more of her to love. She is a softie, and a bit of a lapdog who enjoys affection and will give you gentle licks on your hand to show her love.
Rosie is dog friendly, child friendly and has been exposed to a cat with little reaction. She would do well with an active family with older children or teenagers to play with, or a home with a friendly, adult canine companion. Rosie has a beautiful nature and gets along really well with kids and other dogs she knows. She loves to go for a walk/run and loves to spend the afternoon in the backyard with the kids playing chasing the ball and running around. Rosie loves to snuggle and have a scratch on the belly and sometimes will lay her head on your lap.
Rosie loves treat rewards and will shake your hand and take them gently when offered. She is so smart she already can sit, shake, drop and stay, the kids have been teaching her to touch with her nose. Rosie was pulling a lot on the lead when she first arrived but with some training and help from DRN trainers she is walking much better and hardly pulls at all now.
Rosie responds best when she has consistency and routine - a daily walk or run (she would suit a jogger) and play time in a secure yard (with 6 foot fencing) would be her perfect day. She would love a home where she is included as a family member and she's allowed inside with her people and able to sleep inside on her own bed. Rosie loves when you come home, she gets so excited to see you and make sure she says hello to everyone. She won't suit being a yard only dog as she loves people too much - she wants to be with her favourite people - you! Rosie is still very much a cheeky puppy (albeit a big one!) so she'll enjoy being entertained with bones, chews or puzzle toys and daily activities to keep her fit and healthy. She would do well at group dog-training classes or being trained to do dog sports like agility.
For more information or to meet the lovely Rosie, please contact Rebecca by email firstname.lastname@example.org or 0425 250 889. Rosie is in foster care near Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).
Rosie's adoption fee is $350 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Hi I'm Evie and I'm a very regal 16 month old French Mastiff x English Mastiff x Wolfhound x Great Dane. Yep that's a whole lot of breeds in my parents - and look how beautiful I am (who needs a pedigree to be this pretty?) I have a soft, stunning coat and a soft temperament to match - my sad hound-dog eyes will melt your heart and you'll be in love with me in no time !!
I am a sweetheart who loves hanging out with my humans. I'm still an active, playful pup who loves toys, walks and attention. My perfect home would be one where my furever family will take me for a walks or outings each day, give me plenty of cuddles and love me to bits. I'd do well with older kids or teenagers who are used to large dogs, or with a single person or couple who are after a loyal and clever companion.
I would suit a home with a friendly and large male dog to play with - I have been socialised with dogs both big and small and I like a bit of rough play with bigger dogs. I can be a little vocal in my excitement but that should ease with training, routine and age. I may suit a home as an only dog as long as you don't leave me home alone all day. I don't cope when left alone and I'll get up to mischief! If you work from home or can take me to work I'd love to join you - I will happily be by your side wherever you want to go. I may also suit a stay at home family who will spend a lot of time with me. I need to be allowed inside when my family is home and to sleep inside on my own warm and comfy bed.
I love car trips so if you need a co-pilot I'll raise my paw for the job! I stick my head out the window to feel the breeze in my hair, or I curl up on the back seat watching the world go by. I love treats and will Shake or High-Five before gently taking your offered treat. I also love Macdonald's ice-cream cones as an occasional reward - yummy!
To find out more about stunning Miss Evie please contact Jo on email email@example.com . Evie is located near Morisset (Central Coast) NSW and is not available for interstate adoption.
Evie's adoption fee is $350 and includes desexing, vaccination, treatment for fleas and worms, microchipping, and lifetime registration.

Wolfie, 2yo, male, wolfhound x. Wolfie is a lovely and happy dog. He loves to spend time with people and enjoys being included in family activities. He is very quiet, rarely barks, and won't be any trouble as long as he is taken on daily walks, preferably one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Wolfie had a rough start to life. We believe he was raised for pig hunting but he was too gentle to be a good hunter so he was hit on the head with a hammer and left in the bush for dead. Wolfie woke up and walked many kilometres back to town to find food at a local supermarket. He was very skinny and the pads of his feet were worn down from the long journey. He was picked up by rangers and taken to the pound. Dog Rescue Newcastle saved his life and now that he has been in care, he has shown that he is an affectionate and joyful dog with a very beautiful temperament and is not aggressive to people or other animals.
Wolfie didn't have the benefit of earlier training but he has been working with our trainers and is showing that he is motivated to figure out what you are asking and enjoys the attention. He is learning all the basics. Mostly he needs more work on lead walking and jumping up to greet people. He is not aware of his size and, like a puppy, uses his mouth to show affection and playfully mouth hands to instigate play. Wolfie responds very well to positive reinforcement/reward based training and this should be continued. He doesn't respond to punishment at all. Our trainer is happy to advise you about how to continue Wolfie's training and can meet with you if you are in Newcastle or Lake Macquarie.
Wolfie's ideal home would be with someone who has time to spend with him. He enjoys a walk morning and evening. He enjoys different places and scents so he would be thrilled to accompany you on weekend adventures to the beach or bush. He is housetrained and can come inside to spend time with his family. He sleeps outside in a large kennel. He likes to play with plastic bottles, ropes and rags.
Wolfie would be fine as an only dog if you don't work outside the home, but if you work full time Wolfie would like to have a canine companion for company, preferably a female dog of similar size. His ideal owner would be confident with large dogs and able to manage him on lead if he pulls and is willing to continue reward based training. Due to his size he's not suited to children under 12. He is fine with cats.
Wolfie is nervous around new people and it can take him up to two weeks to understand that you are friendly. But once he trusts you, you will have gained a friend for life! He is very excited to see you and sometimes greets you with a little howl of happiness. Wolfie will show you lots and lots of love and bring you tons of happiness. Wolfie is waiting to meet you.
For more information or to meet Wolfie, please contact Eve by email to firstname.lastname@example.org (preferred) or text: 0400 439 977. Wolfie is in foster care in Merewether, NSW (Newcastle). He is not available for adoption interstate.
Wolfie's adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Blanket, as the name suggests, is a cuddly beautiful 4 year old Mastiff boy, formerly known as Boss but the name really didn’t suit him as he’s nothing like a Boss and it gives the wrong impression of him. Blanket is a large sized dog, he has a big sweet fat head and a silky shiny coat.
Blanket loves laying around with his people giving them lots of love and attention. He is a great family dog and perfect with children of all ages. He previously lived with several young children. Blanket isn't a jumper and responds well to instructions. He knows how to sit and wait for treats, and will gently take treats from your fingers. He is a big gentle sook that loves pats and belly rubs and likes nothing more than to lean on your feet. He loves to give his humans lots of affection through cuddles and kisses. Blanket will always lay next to you to protect you. He has a big deep bark that makes him a great guard dog, no one will break into your house when Blanket is on duty.
Blanket knows all his commands and listens really well. He is a very smart dog and is coming out of his shell more and more each day which is a pleasure to see and shows what an amazing nature he has. Blanket knows it’s walking time once you pick his harness up and loves putting it on. He is well house trained he isn’t a barker or digger. He will need good strong fencing.
Blanket would love another dog friend to play with or someone that is home most of the time as he loves company. He is still very playful like a puppy and he gets along with all other dogs and as a young dog shows a lot of excitement when he meets them. He also loves to play with his toys and chew his bones.
Blanket is strong on the lead and will need a man or a strong woman to handle him. His walking harness makes walking easier with him as he pulls less. He will respond to more training in this area and has already shown lots of improvement. Blanket travels well in the car, he jumps in the boot by himself and loves going for rides to new places.
Blanket has become accustomed to being an inside dog with all the comforts a cosy home gives so he needs to be an inside/outside dog but definitely allowed to sleep inside.
For more information or to meet Blanket, please contact Donna on 0466 099 426 or email email@example.com. Blanket is in foster care in Belmont North, NSW (Newcastle area) and is not available for adoption interstate
Blanket’s adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Hi, my name is Mya and I am a 15 month old German Shepherd x Cattle Dog girl. I am very friendly, energetic and inquisitive. I love to socialise and love water, the beach and parks!
I love having a big back yard with lots of toys to play with. I like playing tug with my friends - as much as I am playful, I am quite comfortable laying around chewing or playing with a toy. I absolutely love playing in water and have greatly enjoyed chasing and wrestling with my foster sister in the yard. I am a fantastic jumper and I will need a very secure yard to keep me safe.
I am very proud of the obedience skills I have learnt such as sit and down and I am going great with my lead training, but I’m looking forward to further training. I am used to coming inside and laying down of an evening and love being part of the family. I need a loving home who will continue my training and make me feel loved.
I get very excited around people and jump a lot, but I am learning that this is not OK and instead I should sit to greet people. While I love kids, I can be a bit too energetic and excited so I would be best suited to older kids.
I need a family who has the time to exercise me regularly, and perhaps has another dog to play with as I get lonely if I am left on my own for long periods. I am not suited for a home with cats, birds or chickens.
I have a lot of love to give, and need the perfect family to share my love with. I am such an affectionate dog and can't wait to find my forever home!
For more information or to meet Mya, please contact Donna on 0466 099 426 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Mya is in foster care in the Newcastle area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Mya's adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

She is a fit, active and happy young girl who gets along well with people and other dogs and would make a perfect companion for anyone.
Dorry gets along very well with her foster siblings. This girl’s aims and passion in life are to find a permanent home and make her human companions happy. Being a quick learner, Dorry knows some basic commands, can sit and shake hands and sits beautifully in the car. Being very responsive and eager to learn, Dorry has a lovely nature and is a well-behaved and mature girl.
Dorry is living with four small dogs at the moment but would dearly love to play with dogs closer to her size. With her smooth coat that can easily be cared for with just a bath and the occasional brushing. She is very low maintenance.
Dorry would be happy as an only dog given plenty of love, attention and exercise, but wouldn’t mind sharing the love with other animals in the home. So, Dorry is a playful, energetic, even tempered girl, calm with other dogs, is not food protective and understands basic commands
If you feel you can provide this super friendly young dog with a loving, permanent home, please contact Nora on 0418 402 150 or email@example.com

Sweet little Rose is quiet and calm. Rose is happy napping or having cuddles and she loves to follow you around the yard. Rose has stolen my heart - if you’re anything like me you’ll fall in love with Rose as soon as you meet her.
Rose will grow up to be a medium to large dog and she is very quick on learning new things. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.

Meet the amazing Dusty – a lovable almost 2 year old Ridgeback x Mastiff x Bull Arab boy who loves his cuddles. This lovely gentleman has a heart of gold and a sleek golden coat to match. Dusty is your typical sweet yet goofy, clumsy large breed who is very smart as well as having an eagerness to please his people.
Dusty is very obedient with his sit and wait commands. Dusty has so much potential with his learning - he would thrive with obedience classes and would respond well to dog sports like agility. The challenge, exercise and social aspect would be great for his mind, development and his fitness.
He loves to play fetch and will even bring the ball straight back! Dusty is an absolute delight to look after – when he isn't playing or just hanging out with you or his puppy pals, you can find him taking a snooze and sleeping the day away recharging.
Dusty is in foster care with other dogs smaller than him but he is certainly the big baby of his foster family. It is vital that he is adopted into a home with another canine friend - he is too social to be an only dog. He enjoys meeting new pals when his foster mum takes him to the beach and he loves paddling in the water.
Dusty is best suited to older children who are confident with large dogs and won’t be intimidated by his size and zest for life. He would suit many family situations as he’s quite adaptable. Dusty’s main requests to his new family is that he be included in as much of their lives as possible and to always be loved!
Dusty is an inside/outside dog and needs to be allowed inside when people are home, and to sleep inside. He loves being out in the yard playing with his friends, however due to his social qualities he is not suited to being a yard only dog – he loves inside time. He has so much love to give and his perfect place in the world is hanging out with his people.
For more information on Dusty, please contact Jo on email email@example.com . Dusty is in foster care near The Entrance on the NSW Central Coast, 2261 and is not available for adoption interstate.
Dusty's adoption fee is $350 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Charm is an affectionate 3-year-old Great Dane X girl. She has a gorgeous tiger-striped brindle coat and very longing eyes. Charm is a real people oriented girl who loves being with her family whatever they are doing. She loves to explore nature and adores her daily walk.
Charm is very good with children but would be best suited to children over 10 years of age as she can get over excited when playing. She gets on well with both big and small dogs but dislikes cats and birds. Charm loves to play tug, running and being chased. Her favourite toys are sticks and balls but she is happy doing anything as long as she is with her family.
Charm is a bit of a snuggler and likes to spend time in the lounge room on her bed or next to you on the lounge if invited. She can use a dog door and is house trained. Charm is extremely well behaved indoors and will follow you around or find a comfy place to have a snooze. She is happy to sleep all night indoors in her crate or on a comfy bed. On warmer nights, she has been sleeping happily on the deck.
Charm has been surrendered, (due to no fault of her own), and is used to being part of a very loving family. She is currently living happily with two other dogs, a retriever and a Labrador. Charm can sit for her food and is learning how to wait. She walks well on lead and can walk past excitable dogs without a bother.
Charm’s perfect home would be with an active single, couple or family with older children. Due to her size she may knock over toddlers when excited (She is smaller than a Great Dane but taller than a Labrador). Her new family will need to be prepared to continue with training as she is a large dog and will need a home where she is allowed to be indoors and part of the family. Charm can get a little anxious when left outdoors alone and may cry. She would be okay with another doggie friend to play with but would probably be best suited as an only dog as long as she isn’t left alone for extended periods. Her family will also have to be prepared to feed her a high-quality diet as she does appear to have some allergies to plants & red meat. She will require a moderate to large yard with 5-6 foot fences due to her size.
Charm is a delightful girl and it is easy to fall in love with her. She is a gentle soul and can be quite timid at first but once comfortable loves to play. Charm loves to sidle up to you for a pat & will even try to sit on your lap. Does Charm sound like the right girl for you?
If you are interested in adopting/meeting Charm please email an application form to her foster carer, Michelle at firstname.lastname@example.org or for more information call on 0422 652 530. Charm is located in Cessnock, 40 minutes North-West of Newcastle. Charm is not available for interstate adoption.
Charm’s adoption fee is $350 and includes desexing, microchipping, vaccinations, worm and flea treatments and life-time registration. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Hi I'm Portia and I'm a bubbly, happy-go-lucky Mastiff x who is almost 5 years old . I love people and enjoy introducing myself to new friends whenever I can. I'm cheeky as I'll jump up to give you a kiss on the face but I'm learning that it's more polite to say hi with all 4 of my paws on the floor.
Everyone thinks I'm part greyhound as I'm fast like one when I do zoomies around the yard - they laugh at my antics and say I'm a clown. Once I get over my excitement meeting you I will settle down and show you the sweet side of my personality. I love to sit for treats to show you I'm a good girl and enjoy receiving praise.
I'm currently in care with approximately 100 other dogs at a boarding facility. I have a few canine male playmates whom I play rough and tumble games with all day. My besties were Leo, Django and Dobby - I was a good luck charm for them as they were each adopted by wonderful families. It's now my turn to find a family of my very own - I have been waiting patiently like a good girl for a very long time!
I would love a family who will spend time teaching me to live in a family home again as I've lived in boarding for most of my life. I'll need a refresher on my house manners as it's been 3.5 years since I've lived in a home! I'm so eager to please you and am treat focused so it won't take me long. Because I love to do zoomies my wish list includes a fenced grassed yard (6 foot colourbond) so I can run around before chilling out with you for the day. I would also enjoy advanced training or agility to show off how clever I am.
I would suit a couple or single person who will spend time walking me or even train me to run with them. I love people of all ages, however I'd likely knock over toddlers when I'm bounding around so I am better matched with teenagers or adults. I'm best suited to a home without pocket pets or cats and I would love to be allowed inside as I thrive in the company of my people.
