Geneveave ~ Placid Mastiff X Puppy

Geneveave is a 14 week old, female, Mastiff x puppy. She is a placid, easygoing girl that loves cuddles.

Geneveave is a very healthy little puppy who has been raised in a home environment. She has been very well socialised with other puppies and adult dogs (small and large) and gets along well with them all. She's met lots of people and is friendly and affectionate with them.

Geneveave will grow up to be a medium dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.

Geneveave will need a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate as she would be too lonely on her own. It would also be good if someone in the household doesn't work full time.

Geneveave needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 8 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps. She can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).

Geneveave's brother Gideon is also available for adoption.

As Geneveave is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.

For more information or to meet Geneveave, please phone her foster mum Robyn on 02 4953 7115. Please leave a detailed message and she'll ring you back. Geneveave is in Glendale, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).

Geneveave's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see of all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Frankie ~ 11 Month Old Blue Cattle Dog

Frankie is an 11 month old purebred Blue Cattle dog. He is a gorgeous young man with plenty of spunk. His foster mum says “Frankie, you’re so handsome you could go to Hollywood”.

Frankie is looking for an active family that need some extra love and company in their life. He is a gorgeous young man that loves to play ball and follow his foster dad around. He has all the qualities of a Blue Cattle dog and will need a family that want to spend time playing and loving him

Frankie comes when he is called, and will sit and shake hands and is learning to wait calmly for his meals. He is not a fence jumper or barker unless he is alerting you to something. Frankie will need some additional training and would love some agility or obedience classes. He is currently living with two other medium size cattle dogs and gets on well with them. Frankie walks well on a lead and would benefit from ongoing training. He is exceptionally smart and a very fast learner. Frankie travels well in the car.

Frankie would suit a family with older children who are confident with playful dogs, or active people who can take him on adventures. He would like lots of company and stimulation so if you are home a lot or have another dog to keep him busy, Frankie is the man for you. He has not been cat, chicken or pocket-pet tested as yet.

Frankie is toilet trained and currently sleeps inside. He would suit a fenced rural environment, but a fully fenced suburban yard would also be fine.

For more information or to meet Frankie, please email superweb@bigpond.com. Frankie is located in Maitland, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Frankie’s adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

No photo for Ted ~ 3 Year Old Red Kelpie X

Ted ~ 3 Year Old Red Kelpie X

Hi! I'm Ted. 3yo, red kelpie x. My foster carers tell me I’m an adorable, bouncy, fun, smart, handsome, stubby tailed (it’s very cute) little man. The things I like best are: food and treats, playing with grown up humans in the back yard, snuffling around the garden, being cuddled, stroked, getting my tummy scratched, getting brushed, cuddling on my blanket in the evening beside my humans whilst they watch TV, lying on an old couch overlooking the yard and did I say treats?

I also love when it’s hot and my human and I play with the hose. I jump up and catch the water in my mouth. It’s also fun to chase a big ball in the garden and chew toys. I’m great at chewing and my human says I’m the best because I only chew my things and no one else’s.

I have very good basic training. I know how to sit and lie down, wait at my bowl for my dinner and go to bed without a fuss. I’m okay for a few hours on my own in the laundry on my bed with my blanket and some toys during the day, but I don’t like being left alone for a very long time. I would be very sad if I was on my own most of the time every day or always kept in the yard.

My humans aren't sure how old I am. They think I am about 3 or 4 but they know I’m still a young dog. When I was little, the rangers saw me running around a town near Newcastle. It took them a long time to catch me. They thought I was special and looked after me and gave me to DRN to find me a forever home.

When I see other dogs, I get very frightened and I bark at them quite a lot. Being around dogs or next door to yard dogs, is my least favourite thing. Being on a lead is my second least favorite thing because when on a walk, you never know when you may come across another scary dog. My foster human thinks I maybe never got to play with other dogs or maybe bigger dogs attacked me when I was a puppy and that’s possibly why I find other dogs scary. My foster carer helps me feel safe by not taking me to places where there are other dogs, speaking to me kindly, being patient and playing with me. My carer says she thinks I was maybe have been hit by a loud, angry person when I was little because I get very anxious and cower down and put my ears back when I hear loud voices. DRN can recommend a very good force-free trainer to help me get over my fears, or you can just keep me away from other dogs.

I’d love to have a forever home that had a big yard with a solid high fence so I can’t see things that frighten me through it and without any dogs in the adjoin yards. I’d like a forever home where I am the littlest and most energetic in the house. I need a human who would understand that I have not had the best start in life, that I can be anxious when things change and that I need you to be patient, kind and have time for me and enjoy having me to play with in your yard and in your home. I’m loving, cuddly and fun when I feel safe. And just so you know, I do like treats.

For more information or to meet Ted, please contact Bronwen by phone (preferred) 0413 729 229 or email br0nn13@hotmail.com (that's a number zero in the address not the letter o). Ted is in foster care in Lake Macquarie NSW (south of Newcastle), and is available for adoption interstate.

Ted's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Toby ~ 3 Year Old Red Cattle Dog

Have you ever seen a smile like it?! Toby the 3 year old Cattle dog is just so happy to have a second chance at a great life! This beautiful Red Cattle Dog loves a good snuggle and has a truly loving heart.

Toby didn’t have a great start and is quite wary of new people, he is going to need a family who are prepared to be very gentle and patient but with enough understanding of the cattle breed to continue his training and help him thrive as an active, intelligent dog. Toby has had the benefit of some time with a trainer and is now learning people can be really nice and living in a family will bring lots of new adventures. You are going to have to earn his trust, but with lots of positive reinforcement, aka doggy treats, he quickly comes around.

Toby walks beautifully on the lead and travels well in the car. New smells are his favourite thing. He is learning what toys and playtime are about, but that will come when he relaxes in his new environment. It will probably be best if Toby’s new family have bigger kids, maybe over 12 and whilst he has been in care with other dogs, his trainer has suggested it might be best if he was an only dog. His current carers think his perfect match might be a young retired couple who have plenty of time to spend with him and take him on lots of walks.

He will need tall secure fencing and a large yard to run and play. Again, it will be important in this adoption that his new family know and understand cattle dogs and their temperament. If you think this is you, cuddles and unwavering loyalty will be your reward! Cattle dogs bond very closely and most people who have owned one will attest to their devotion.

If you would like to meet him, please contact Lauren at hitthesand@hotmail.com. Toby is currently in care in Port Stephens and is available for adoption interstate.

Toby’s adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Jet ~ 3 Year Old Lab X Kelpie

Meet Jet! Jet is a beautiful 3 year old male Labrador cross Kelpie pup. Jet was timid when first arriving in care but is gaining more and more trust each day. Jet is very affectionate and loves lots of cuddles and kisses! Jet needs someone who can spend time with him and gain his trust through cuddles, walks and play. Jet is an active dog so an active owner is best suited!

Jet currently lives with a 10 month old female Pug puppy. Jet goes to the beach each afternoon with the Pug puppy and is slowly becoming more confident with other dogs although is not confident with male dogs. Jet would be best suited to a home where are no other dogs, but with a meet and greet we will know if he is suited with your female dog.

Jet is best suited for a family with children over the age of 8 as sometimes children can spook him.
Jet has spent time with cats although a house without cats is best suited as sometimes they can spook him.

Jet has spent time both indoors and outdoors and has slept indoors. He can be either inside or outside but to gain his trust it would be best he slept indoors until he is comfortable within his new home. Jet is trained to lay on a mat or bed next to your bed and will stay there for the duration of the night.

Jet has learnt some basic training and would definitely excel with further training. Jet knows to sit, shake your hand, lay down and roll over and will also drop the ball for you when playing fetch. Jet loves to play fetch of an afternoon and can spend hours doing so!

Jet walks well on a lead although it is best that he is walked by an adult as sometimes he can pull on the lead when he is excited.

All Jet asks from you is cuddles, love and attention! If you think Jet sounds like someone that could join your family, please contact Vanessa on 0402 688 084 or email at vanessajaynegledhill@hotmail.com. Jet is located in Belmont and is available for adoption interstate.

Jet’s adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Luna ~ 2 Year Old Border Collie X

Luna is a 2 year old Border Collie x. She has come from a broken home and could not stay with her family who loved her very much and you can tell.

Luna has a brilliant shiny coat and is very fit and healthy, she loves to play games especially with a ball. Take her to the beach or park and she will not run away.

Lina likes the car and just being around you. She is very intelligent and if you play ball with her she will bring it back and drop it at your feet.

When you are out gardening Luna loves to follow and when you turn the hose on she can’t wait to have some hose play.

Luna on well with other dogs, not sure about cats, knowing her nature I’m sure she would be ok with them. She would love a family with older children over 7 who would not overwhelm her as she is quiet shy and may withdraw with too much happening.

Please let Luna come inside and be part of your family when she wants to. She also loves to be outside and at the moment prefers to sleep outside. There’s not much barking coming from this young girl, just an occasional whine when she’s unsure of what’s happening.

Luna is a delight to have around and will be missed terribly by our family but I will look forward to seeing her applications and finding her the best family of her dreams.

For more information or to meet Luna, please contact her foster carer Sue on suzigil@dodo.com.au or 0420207766. Luna is in foster care in Jewells, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Luna’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Button ~ 6 Year Old Miniature Poodle

Button is a Miniature Poodle around age 6-7 who becomes her owner’s shadow very quickly. Throughout the day Miss Pretty can’t take her eyes off you for a second. She has a strong look of affection and adoration towards her owner/companion and strives to please. Button can often be found of morning curled up extremely close to you or on the most comfortable spot on the bed. She quickly becomes attached to anyone who gives her a second for attention and love during the day.

Button enjoys going for walks and is good on a leash. She is very playful but is still trying to understand toys. She is incredibly affectionate and will spin in circle many times in a row when excited which is an adorable little quirk particularly when you arrive home.

Button is a very social dog and gets along particularly well with people and other dogs, however her behaviour with cats and children is unknown to us. She is house trained and sleeps in doors and loves comfort particularly on the bed or on her bed if she chooses so. Button has little obedience training however she can quickly grasp the general idea of commands and rules once you get past some minor stubbornness. She is very energetic and requires some exercise if only just a quick walk. She is not a barker.

Button’s ideal home would be someone who enjoys cuddling and expresses lots of affection towards her and would be suited to most situations in which someone is home most of the day or takes the time to have her separation anxiety worked on. She has been housed with her brother Bear and it would be preferential if they were adopted together however we think she would adjust well if separated as she loves to be centre of attention.

For more information or to meet Button, please contact her foster carer Alex on alex.cater.710@gmail.com. Button is in foster care in Waratah, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Button’s adoption fee is $400 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Roxy ~ Beautiful Mastiff X Girl

Roxy is a sweet 6 month old Mastiff x girl. She is a beautiful and affectionate puppy who has lovely golden brown eyes that match her golden brown coat.

Roxy adores playing games with adults and children or smooching up for a neck and belly scratch. Roxy is familiar with families with young children - She currently lives with a 1 yr old, 9yr old and an 11yr old and plays wonderfully with the older children who can play tug-o-war with her. She would love a home with someone, whether it be a single person, a couple or family who will spend time walking and playing with her each day as well as taking her on outings.

Roxy is very obedient and just wants to please everyone. She is an eager learner and will sit with on verbal command, with and without treats. She will also sit before getting her dinner or a tasty bone. Her excitable nature means she sometimes forgets to stay after sitting but she is working really hard to master this skill. Roxy is quick to respond to her name and comes cheerfully. Being a puppy, Roxy still attempts to play wrestling games but is quickly working out that her soft toys are more fun. Roxy does have a tendency to have a short bark when strangers are about but because she has quickly learnt how to self soothe, she settles quickly.

Roxy enjoys going out for a walk to explore the world. On her daily walks, Roxy is very comfortable on her lead and happily walks beside her walker and is learning to sit before crossing the road. Roxy is very intrigued by the little insects she finds along the way.

Roxy loves a chat with a neighbouring dog which is entertaining to listen to. With her being a smart girl, she knows when the conversation has finished and runs off to find her rope or favourite chew toys. Roxy is a very social dog and thoroughly enjoys playing at the beach or dog park, making new doggie and human friends wherever she goes.

Roxy will be a wonderful family dog and can’t wait to give her new family lots of love and cuddles.

For more information or to meet Roxy, please contact her foster mum Kylie via email at kylieeverson80@gmail.com. Roxy is in foster care in Corlette, NSW (Port Stephens area) and is not available for adoption interstate.
