Clancy

Hey all,
I'm Clancey and I am a 2 year old male husky! My owner unfortunately had to surrender me due to work commitments so I'm hanging out with Best Friends Pet Rescue until I can find my furever home.
I am looking for an active family to fulfil my exercise requirements and someone with enough time to give me a brush so my coat stays looking this good!
I am still learning my manners but I do know the rules, just sometimes I get really excited and find it hard to sit still when there is so much to learn, smell and lick :)
I've been very quite in my foster home but sometimes vocal in public when I get bored and my foster dad keeps talking and ignoring me! I get on very well with other medium to large dogs, I am currently living with a German Shepherd and we love to wrestle all day, but I would prefer a home without cats.
Get in touch to meet me and maybe I can fall asleep on your lap,
Clancey.

Pippa

Pip in an energetic girl with a bubbly personality.

Don't let her kelpie looks fool you, she's got long legs and will be a big girl.

Pip loves running, playing with her toys and other dogs. Being the active girl she is she will need someone with an active lifestyle but she will happily snuggle on the lounge with you after a big day.

She's only 4 months old, super smart, and will need ongoing training and stimulation.

Her foster mum is teaching her that's it's not okay jump up when she gets excited and she's a fast learner.

Lucas

Hi I'm Lucas. I'm a dingo, possibly crossed with a JRT. But apart from the colouring, I look very dingo like.

I am beautiful and full of life. I didn't get any training or socialisation in my previous home, so I need a committed owner who will show me what to do.

I'm full of beans in my foster home, but I am scared of the big wide world. With some patience, I'm sure I could learn to love it.

I am never aggressive towards other dogs but do tend to overstep the boundaries a bit. I'll need some guidance on appropriate greetings and play.

I love cats, but they don't love me back. Might have something to do with my habit of stalking them?

I am very quiet. I don't bark or howl. I've never felt an urge to escape my backyard either.

I'm very well toilet trained. I'll take myself out through the dog door whenever I need to go.

I'm apprehensive of strangers but get used to them fairly quickly.

I'm very food motivated, which offers lots of opportunities for training.

Max

Hi my name is Max and if you're looking for a guard dog to scare off the bad guys, I'm your dog! I have a deep scary bark but don't be afraid, I'm actually just a big cheeky teddy bear! I just sound scary. I really wouldn't hurt a fly, except maybe a cat. I did get in trouble for chasing my foster mum's cat. I tried to tell her we were only playing, but she thinks I should probably go to a hime without cats, just in case.

Things you might like to know about me:

- I'm desexed, vaccinated, wormed, flea-treated, and heartworm-treated.

- I'm currently eating Advance Large Breed biscuits, but I'm not fussy and will eat almost anything.

- Even though I look like an adult, the humans tell me I'm only 1 year old and still a youngster, so I'm still learning what I can and can't do. I just need some time and encouragement to be the best dog I can be.

- I'm just a big boofhead who loves cuddles and playing with my friends, just like any other puppy, and I can't wait to find my forever family one day.

Love,

Max

Joy

Joy is a typical Basenji - very energetic, independent, wary of strangers and new experiences, assertive and protective with most other dogs, yet enjoys lounging on the sofa with her foster dad and his blue cattle dog.

Joy had been through several homes by age 9 months, when she was surrendered to us for being anxious and nervous especially around the children. We got in touch with her breeder interstate, who could not take her back. We placed her in a foster care home with an experienced dog owner and our vet prescribed anti-anxiety medication to help her settle. Now after some months of consistent gentle handling, she is a normal Basenji!

She gets along well with the resident male cattle dog and they play endlessly, but she dislikes most female dogs she has met. She is energetic and alert, and loves to play and to eat. In fact, her diet needs to be managed carefully because she will overeat if given a chance and she puts on weight easily.

Joy dislikes being touched when she's asleep, but enjoys belly rubs and attention when she's awake.

If you are an experienced dog owner and Basenji fancier, and have no young children, Joy may be for you!

Scooby

Scooby is a very large, gentle giant of a dog. He was tormented by children in his original home and so requires a mature and gentle owner - shouting or harsh treatment send him running to cower in a corner.

Scooby loves to play in a clamshell pool and likes to play tug and fetch games with his foster dad. When left on his own, he just chills in the backyard, he is well-mannered and he rarely barks at anything.

Scooby is obsessed and fascinated by cats, so a cat-free home is necessary for his own wellbeing. In his first foster home, he would sit for hours staring in through the screen door at the housecat, so we relocated him to stop his obsessing.

Please note Scooby's location - the successful applicant will need to arrange collection by car. Scooby can't tolerate the confinement of being transported in a dog trailer.

This pet will come microchipped, but council registration - if required in your state or territory - is not included in the adoption fee.
