Blackburn Veterinary Centre is part of Animal Hospitals Australia. Cat Adoption Centres are operated by all of the veterinary clinics in this group. The Cat Adoption Centre is a non-profit community service which houses, cares for and rehomes cat 'orphans'. Kittens and cats are surrendered free of charge into our clinic by members of the community. The kittens we receive have either been found abandoned or can no longer be looked after by someone. All clinic staff then volunteer their time to maintain the centre and to look after the cat 'orphans' until they are re-homed. All kittens and cats receive a full veterinary assessment, are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, flea treated and dewormed. The fees that we charge for these cats and kittens are kept to a minimum and cover only a portion of the costs involved in their veterinary treatment and rearing.
