The Cats and Dogs of the Pilbara and beyond have much to be grateful for that I worked for the Australian Bureau of Statistics travelling all over the NorthWest of Western Australia interveiwing in peoples homes for a number of years.This is where I discovered the enormous amount of cats and dogs who were homeless and in need of somewhere to stay before a permanent home could be found. My work background has been mainly in the Human Service Industry often working with young people and people with disabilities.The work with A.B.S. involved a need to be able to market well and I think the skills I have developed in these jobs has been a great asset in dealing closely with so many people in so many capacities with S.A.F.E. S.A.F.E. is based on the belief system that I have developed over many years through putting much effort into my own personal growth.Keeping positive ,non-judgemental and being open to the possibilities has helped S.A.F.E. to achieve so many positive outcomes for animals who had faced no future prior to SAFEs inception. S.A.F.E. is run from my own home where I live with my 3 dogs and 3 cats. It is an extremely busy place with a constant stream of cats and dogs coming into foster care.SAFE has no funding so we are urgently in need of financial support.There is little respite for me as the need is enormous and the volunteers "too thin on the ground".In saying that we do have many involved in a variety ways including foster carers and those who assist directly at SAFE Headquarters-we just need more!!!I pick up the guitar or get creative in the kitchen for a break-but generally I only get out early morning and close on dark to get my dogs to the park. Saving and changing the lives of so many deserving creatures makes the relentlesness of it all worthwhile.SAFE wants animals everywhere to receive this service and for no animal to ever be euthanased purely for the lack of somewhere to stay.
