Retired racing greyhounds become available for adoption all year round, and because the public are largely unaware of the magnificent warm and affectionate nature of these dogs they don't consider them as an alternative for a pet. By generating a more positive perception of the breed, Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) aims to find responsible caring and loving permanent homes for these greyhounds who have truly earned their retirement. All GAP greyhounds are temperament tested, sterilised, C5 vaccinated, microchipped, have their teeth cleaned and come with a lead, collar, muzzle and plenty of support from GAP. All GAP greyhounds are socialised with small, medium and large dogs prior to entering foster care to ensure they are suitable for rehoming. GAP dogs are cat tested according to their temperament and GAP ensures that any dog homed with cats has spent time in foster care with cats. GAP is the only Greyhound Adoption Program in Western Australia officially sanctioned by Greyhounds WA and RWWA. With over 10 years of experience in behavioural assessment and matching dogs with suitable families, you can be sure Kerry, Tammara and Dana will responsibly rehome your retired greyhound. GAP has also developed a strong network of support including a number of Veterinary practices, Animal Behaviourists, pet dog training businesses, pet dog boarding kennels, dog food companies and canine heath specialists to ensure your greyhound is well looked after in it's retirement.
