About Harriette
Harriette is a very active and loveable lady. She is 3.5 years old. She loves toys and is very playful and curious. Like other sausages she loves to sniff around and garden and be outside on the hunt for anything and everything.
She loves going for long walks, she does pull on the lead but has improved in care, she is happy to stand still whilst the harness and lead are put on. She is reactive when seeing people and dogs out and about so will need to be kept on a lead when outside the home.
Despite being reactive towards dogs when on the lead, she is dog social and gets along well with all dogs she has met of all sizes.
She does not like human strangers approaching her and has been a bit growly/snappy if strangers approach her. When she came into care she was growling at me and I allowed her space, within 2 hours she was cuddled up on the lounge with me, on her own terms. For this reason a home with no children is the best suited.
Harriette is doing well with toilet training however has the occasional slip up inside, she will have times where she will have accidents and will need a patient person that is understanding.
Harriette does not like to be left alone, she does bark for about 15 minutes or so when left alone however has 2 doggy companions at the moment. She also enjoys neighbourhood watching out large windows and may bark at birds and other movements outside but it is not constant. It is preferable that she will be rehomed where she has a doggy brother or sister.
Harriette has a good appetite and eats most things, also loves a treat.
Because she is a sausage, she will need a home with limited stairs and an owner that will not promote jumping on and off things such as the lounge and bed as they are prone to back issues. Also would not suit a home with cats or pocket pets.
Harriette enjoys sleeping on the bed, she would also be able to sleep in her own bed if trained to do so, but does prefer to be next to her human as much as possible.
If you think you could give Harriette an active, fulfilled lifestyle, please tell me about yourself and your home in detail including why you want a Dachshund, what a standard day would be like for her. The more information provided the easier it is to identify a suitable home.
Medical notes
Needs a home that does not allow jumping etc due to short legs and long body.
