About Dixi 🐶 10yo, male, Fox Terrier🐾(On Trial 24/1/21
Dixi is a 10 yo, male, Fox Terrier. 🐶 He loves a walk and has a happy spring in his step and wag in his tail. He is well behaved, healthy and no trouble at all. He is a perfect gentleman who can't wait to be your faithful companion.
When you sit down, he'll be next to you or on your lap. When you move around your house and garden he'll be by your side, gazing up at you with affection. Though he loves to be with you, he doesn't get worried when you go out.
Dixi LOVES going for a walk and walks very nicely on a harness and lead. He walks along at a quick pace and likes to check out all the fascinating smells but he doesn't lift his leg on everything. He can't be let off lead until he's had training to return when called.
Dixi is great with other dogs. He was surrendered to DRN when his elderly owner could no longer look after him and 3 other small dogs and a cattle dog. Dixi is now in foster care with 4 small dogs and he gets along well with them. He would be fine as an only dog or living with other friendly dogs. We haven't introduced Dixi to any cats so don't know how he'd react, but I suspect he'd be fine as he's a very relaxed dog.
He's good at home alone for a few hours while you go out but he wouldn't enjoy being home alone all day, especially if you don't have other dogs.
Dixi is very much an inside boy. He is well house trained and does very little typical, male urine marking. He very rarely barks, which is great 😍. He has a short, soft coat which just needs regular brushing and the occasional bath.
Dixi is a small dog with long legs and weighs 7.7 kgs. His paperwork lists his breed as Miniature Fox Terrier but he is Fox Terrier size and weight. His birthday is 18/10/2010 so he's 10 years and 3 months old. Small dogs like Dixi typically live to age 15 or 16 so he still has many years to enjoy in his new home. He is vet checked and has no problems.
Dixi is a total sweetheart ❤️. We can't find anything negative to say about him!
We are looking for a forever home for Dixi where there is someone home most of the time who will make him a big part of their lives; to love him, play with him, take him for a daily walk, and let him sit on their lap. He needs a grassy backyard so isn't suitable for apartments. Like any dog, he needs secure fencing that's not easy to dig under or jump over.
He is very good with children but because of his age he wouldn't enjoy a busy household with children. He's great when they come to visit though. He would suit an active, newly retired couple or single person or a middle-aged couple or single where someone works from home.
If you would like Dixi to be your best friend, we need you to please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt. If you have any questions please contact Terri by email to drn.terri@gmail.com.
Dixi is in foster care in Belmont, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). He available for adoption within NSW. His adoption fee is $300 and he is desexed, recently vaccinated, vet checked, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
