About Kaleo
Hi, my name is Kaleo! I am a very sweet boy, but you will need to be patient with me while I settle into my new surroundings. I am a little shy when meeting new people, but once I can trust you, you will find it hard to keep me off your lap!
I absolutely love my food and I am very talkative, so I will be sure to let you know when I am ready for my breakfast and dinner (I can be quite loud!). During the day, I enjoy curling up and resting in a quiet place, such as on top of the washing machine, on a comfy chair or even on my foster carer's bed. After I have gobbled up my dinner, I like to spend time watching TV with my human and canine companions (yes, I like dogs!).
Once you have given me some time to settle into my new home,, you will see how affectionate I am and hear how loud my meow and my purr are! Come meet me at my foster home in East Fremantle.
Health Issues
Kaleo has a heart murmur. The murmur has been assessed by Cat Haven veterinary staff as mild (grade three or less) and not likely to cause any adverse effects on his health.
Kaleo has a skin condition which has caused severe hair loss and itching in the past. There are a number of different things that can cause this condition, and it can be difficult to determine the underlying cause without specialists testing and trials. Allergic skin conditions can recur throughout an animal's lifetime and continued treatment/ intermittent medication may be required.
Kaleo has dental disease which is common in cats his age and may require ongoing veterinary care.
Kaleo has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a retrovirus that can compromise the immune system, spread by fighting and deep penetrating wounds. He should lead a normal life despite this diagnosis, but there are a few special considerations that need to be made in regards to his health and wellbeing long term. These include being an inside only cat; slow and careful introduction to other cats; and annual vaccinations and health checks.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
