About Sage ~ Greyhound x Staffy (On Trial 24/01/21)
Sage is a sweet and gentle 4 month old Greyhound X Staffy who dreams of being a member of a loving family. She did not have the best start to life, with very little human handling or exposure to the world until she came in to care. Sage is growing rapidly, with her very long legs and big paws indicating that she will grow to be a large dog.
Sage takes her time to warm up to you but when you gain her trust she repays it in full, with a little bit extra on top. She loves to be close by, keeping an eye on everything and approaching for a gentle pat or cuddle in her own time. Sage needs to quietly check everything out, and although it does not appear that she had been inside previously, she is feeling much more comfortable with this now. She is toilet trained and can use a doggy door with confidence.
Sage is very excited about food and does a little dance when it looks like you might have something for her to eat. She loves her older foster brother and sister and could follow them around all day. She would do best with another gentle dog in the family. Sage would not suit small children as she prefers a quiet, relaxed lifestyle and kids may not understand why she won’t play when they want to or isn’t keen for them to cuddle her. She is learning basic commands and to walk on a lead, but needs time and patience.
Sage needs a very patient and gentle family who are willing to introduce her slowly to new experiences and reassure her that she is safe and loved. She can be vocal and will bark and howl for a short period when you leave, but this settles quickly. She has also shown a tendency to dig so will need someone who is home regularly and who is willing to provide ongoing stimulation for this very smart girl.
Sage will capture your heart and be a loving and loyal member of her forever family. As she is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas as she will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she is approximately 5 months old. She is NOT available for long distance or interstate adoption.
She is currently living in Maitland NSW. Her adoption fee is $600 which covers desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worming treatments.
If you are interested in providing Sage with a wonderful forever home, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.tinyurl.com/drnadopt. If you have any specific questions or need any more information, email Sage’s foster carer Sarah-Jane at s-j.hazell@bigpond.com
