About Georgia
Stunning Cleopatra eyeliner, inquisitive dark brows and floppy, velvet ears, Georgia’s red fawn fur is so soft that it’s rumoured to be real silk. Georgia is friendly, affectionate, and outgoing, so much so that we’ve crowned her Miss Congeniality. She loves people and charms the pants off everyone she meets. If Georgia’s happy tail and gorgeous eyes don’t pull you in, then her greyhound lean will have you head-over-heels in love.
Each day, Georgia wakes up ready for adventures and hijinks. She’s a clown – playful, silly and the life of the party. Georgia is hilariously entertaining and will really make you laugh. As Georgia is a young hound, she isn’t your typical couch potato, so you won’t find her lazing on the couch too often. She’s a busy bee who enjoys adventures, walks and romping around with her toys.
A quick learner, Georgia is whip-smart and already knows "on your bed" and "drop". Learning new things is really enriching for Georgia – she loves puzzle toys, playing fetch and zooming around the place. For this reason, an active household with a backyard is a must. Due to her energy levels, she won’t be suitable for a home with children, and would also prefer that her humans are around more often than not. Georgia prefers human engagement more-so than canine company and would love to be the only household hound.
Georgia loves the car and travels well, but sometimes has trouble getting into the car – so you’ll need to be her cheer-squad. Meeting new friends and other dogs can sometimes be too exciting, so you’ll need to ensure that introductions are calm and positive. Georgia will thrive with good routine, boundaries and ongoing training and socialisation. Georgia is young and still learning, so her downfall is that she’s prone to counter-surfing if you leave anything out in the kitchen, and particularly cheeky when helping herself to her dinner early if her kibble isn’t adequately secured.
It’s impossible not to fall in love with this gorgeous goof.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
