About Duncan
General Personality: Happiest dog, loves cuddles and attention. Duncan loves knowing what everyone is doing, he wants to be there by your side. He also loves having a nap and will try sneak his way into your bed, which can either be really cute or end with him stealing Over half the bed.
Training Level: Duncan knows basic commands, and has potential for a lot more. Sit, shake, drop & almost roll over. He will wait for his food if you ask him to. As he is young sometimes he gets a bit distracted by other dogs etc. With continuous training he'll be a legend. Duncan loves to shake hands and will try to shake hands with everyone.
Activity Level: Duncan will go on as many walks as you can take him on. He loves the dog park so he can get a good run going.
Other dogs: Be mindful of other dogs, Duncan is big and to young to realise when another dog isn't comfortable with him. He wants to befriend everyone regardless of whether they aren't into it. He's never reacted badly towards anyone or anything even while being told off by other dogs. He has a kind heart. My cousins rescue dog hated him and Duncan didn't even notice. Biggest chiller.
Cats: Not sure about this, He also puts his paw on everyone so he might hurt a cat accidentally. I wouldn't take this chance just because he's playful and big.
Kids: Duncan came from a house with kids, this boy really is a gentle giant. Great with kids but again he’s a big dog so could knock kids over when excited but he is super gentle and not a “jumpy” type of dog.
On leash: Duncan weighs 44kg and it's basically all muscle- he requires a harness and will pull especially if he sees another dog. He will listen to you if training is maintained with getting him to heel it just takes a bit for him to remember and calm down. (Seeing other dogs he will pull you so definitely no kids walking him at this stage).
Behavioural: Beautiful but also cheeky. Duncan needs stimulation to keep him occupied especially if you leave him alone. If you give him the opportunity to steal a shoe or the TV remote he will probably do it out if boredom. He loves playing with toys so as long as he has plenty he should be ok.
Duncan also loves trying to get into the front seat while driving even when strapped in. He will put his paw on your shoulder or rest his head there and try to get your attention. Having a divider so he can't sneak his way up would be helpful (unless you love the attention because it is kind of cute). He doesn't really like getting in the car unless it's with me- once he bonds with someone he'll jump in easily.
He will bark if he hears people at the house which is good if you don't like strangers- he will stop if you tell him it's okay. He gets protective of us and will be rude and bark until we let him know it's a friend. Not aggressive just wants to know who's coming in.
Special needs: (eg dog reactive, anxious dog etc) Hates being alone but normal for a dog his age. He needs to get more used to people leaving the house without him. He hasn't tried to escape which is great but he does cry a lot if I leave.
Needs/requirements (essential things the new owners lifestyle must have e.g. home full time, dog trainer etc):
Preferably a backyard for him to run around in. Duncan would prefer someone who isn't out all day every day as he is extremely social and loves company. If he had another dog with him he would probably be very happy home alone with them. He needs someone who will take him on walks or to the dog park preferably twice a day. Lots of toys to keep him entertained! He needs someone who will continue to train him mainly because he is a large dog so he needs to have boundaries. Someone who looooves dogs because he loves love.
