Name: Sharlene
Gender: Female
Breed: Kelpie x Labrador mix
Size: Medium
Age: 1 Year
DOB: 11/11/2019
Microchip: 978101082600056
Energy Level: Moderate
Location: Croydon, Vic
Not Available for Interstate Adoption
PER: RE100115
Requirements:
• dog savvy children 8 yrs or older
• A nice big yard for Sharlene to get her zoomies out
• Another active and playful resident dog
Sharlene is an extremely friendly, happy dog. Very energetic and smart. She just loves getting her ears scratched.
She has some basic training, will sit and stay, and is quick to pick up new commands. She is Eager to please so this should not be difficult at all. She is working on keeping all four paws firmly on the ground when greeting her humans. Because of this, Sharlene would suit a home with kids who are 8+ years and who are confident around active bouncy dogs.
Sharlene can be quite excitable at start of walk, but calms down quickly once on the move. A friendly girl, she is always eager to meet people and other dogs on her journey. She would flourish in a home with a big backyard, would suit a farm environment or a family who can take her on 1-2 walks per day to keep her fit and healthy.
While in foster care she has access to both in and outside here (doggy door). Will come in for naps and play in and outside other times. If locked outside and can see you, she will whine.
Sharlene has come nose to nose with her carers cats and has shown absolutely no aggression what’s so ever. She is probably not suited to cats who do get skittish with her quick/ sudden movements and run away. Sharlene will run after them, but we do believe It is only in play (she is a working breed after all).
Her carers have noticed that to herd, she uses her stance, a dominant demeanour with her foster sibling and will go head to head. Zoey snaps/ growls at her when she has had enough of this behaviour and everything is fine afterwards – no angry reactiveness (just backs off)!!
Sharlene would most definitely suit a home with another semi to active, playful dog. And at the moment, would suit a home where there are people coming and going often. She loves playing with toys and doing donuts around the backyard!! Soft toys will get demolished.
