About Tu & Ko
Introducing Tu & Ko!
Tu & Ko are two lovely fellows from a remote community who are looking to find their forever home/s after spending the last six months together in foster care. These boys are "purebred mongrels" AKA Goldfields Specials, and while we can't tell you anything definite about their breeds, we have ample info about their natures and temperaments! Tu & Ko have come from the same original home and look similar enough that we can reasonably assume they are related.
Their loving carer can attest that these two make a harmonious pairing -as much as we would love to place them together, we also realise this may rule out some excellent applications. We are, therefore, prepared to be flexible.
Tu is a sweet, outgoing youngster who adores people, young and old. As a typical teenager (approximately 18mo), he is full of beans and requires daily exercise to curb his boisterous degree of enthusiasm! Tu is vibrant, mischievous and athletic, so high sturdy fencing is a must. A good-sized yard would be ideal but isn't a requirement if he's given adequate exercise opportunities every day.
Ko is a mature gent at approximately 6yo. His quieter, more docile temperament works as an excellent counter-balance to Tu's more energetic nature. Ko makes a devoted companion, and though he keeps up with Tu on their daily strolls, he loves nothing more than to chill with his people, so a good-sized cushy dog-bed or a spot on the lounge would be Ko's main request!
Tu & Ko are both in excellent health and good physical condition. They are medium-sized dogs; Tu weighs in at 17kg, and Ko weighs 25kg. It is essential to be aware that these boys are camp dogs, and as such, their new people should expect an adjustment period to what will be a significant environmental change.
Camp dogs are typically well socialised in the sense that they've usually had a great deal of exposure to a myriad of other dogs and people. However, interactions with other dogs in a free-ranging environment are most often self-managed and are frequently competitive. Such a lifestyle calls for an assertive demeanour from camp dogs if they're to thrive. Still, the great joy of dogs is that learned behaviours can often be mitigated and even eliminated with training and counter-conditioning.
Fortunately, Tu & Ko are already more than halfway acclimated to a 'westernised' lifestyle; they walk well on-lead, enjoy cuddles and have integrated well with their German Shepherd foster brother. We are confident that carefully managed introductions with well-adjusted, social dogs will help to bring out the best in Tu & Ko as a component of their introduction to a different way of life.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Tu & Ko - they are beautiful dogs with character galore who are dearly loved by their foster carer, and we are committed to finding their perfect forever home/s.
