About Malvo
5-year old greyhound boy Malvo has been having a wonderful time settling into his new ‘couch potato’ life.
Malvo’s foster carers describe him as the most affectionate dog they’ve ever met. He loves a snuggle and has a happy gurgle (“like a little pig hunting for a truffle”). If you stop patting him before he is ready, he’ll let you know with a little wiggle. Malvo loves watermelon and hates the vacuum and loud noises.
Malvo is currently in foster care with another greyhound. He’s be happy to go into a home with a resident greyhound, but also seems quite happy with his own company.
Malvo loves a car ride and a bit of an adventure. He also enjoys his walks and is generally confident and walks nicely on a loose leash. He is not small-dog friendly, although is learning to walk past calmly. A new home should be prepared to take any interactions/socialisation with other dog breeds slowly. Malvo currently enjoys two walks a day – morning and afternoon.
Malvo knows to toilet outside and has nice house manners. He knows some basic commands: ‘wait’, ‘out’ (of the kitchen), and is learning ‘on your bed’ and to take treats ‘gently’.
Malvo has only recently starting spending some time home alone (without his humans) but has had his foster brother for company. He hasn’t shown any signs of anxiety when his humans go out but is happy to see them when they return. It would be good for Malvo’s new home to take some time introducing him to longer periods left home alone, especially if he is an only dog in his forever home.
Malvo has not spent a lot of time with kids but has been friendly to those he has met. He is still learning not to jump for his food and can be afraid of loud noises. Because of this, Malvo would best suit a calm and quiet household, either with adults/no kids or a family with older children only.
