Drake is 1 years old and has been in and out of foster care since he was 5 months old and has some anxiety related behavioural issues.
Drake is a dog who wants to be like every other dog but struggles. Drake loves going for walks but is very anxious once outside of the home. Drake finds walking mentally exhausting and at this stage has only been going on short regular walks twice a day. His carers have been slowly exposing him to the outside world in a slow and calm manner and he has made progress since being in care.
Drake has two energy levels - calm or highly excitable. For this reason, Drake requires a calm home where he can relax peacefully and have no need to feel anxious about anything. In foster care Drake has been very calm within the home. He loves a routine and thrives when he knows what’s going to happening. A predictable lifestyle is what he is after.
Drake can become very fixated on other animals, irrespective of their size so it is very important that there are no other animals in his new home. This fixation can lead to behaviours such as stalking, barking, pacing, pestering and chasing.
Despite Drake’s quirks, this gorgeous loving boy loves nothing more than spending time with people. He especially loves to be in the company of familiar people and adores visitors to the home. Drake is in his element when snuggled up to his foster carer on the couch or simply sleeping near people as they work.
Like all young dogs, Drake loves playing with his pull ropes and his squeaky balls. Spending time in the backyard playing ball is a great day for Drake.
Drake has a solid build and is medium in size. He is house trained, sleeps through the night, loves his food (perhaps a little too much!) and can use the dog door.
If you are a person who has the time, patience and is looking for a true companion then Drake is your dog. More information about Drakes story can be viewed by the following link below. Please view the video about Drake before applying to ensure you aware of Drake and his needs.
