About Ernie
*In foster care in Kogarah, Sydney*
Sweet and curious by nature, Ernie will make the most wonderful companion! This beautiful ginger tabby has definite ideas about when and where pats are in order - but when cuddle-time arrives, he'll let you know with a meow or by hopping up onto the sofa beside you :)
Ernie's not a lap cat, but he loves to curl up as close as possible to his favourite humans – especially if you scratch him under his chin! When he's not napping, he's watching the birds outside the window – and when a possum appears, he'll share the exciting news with you! Ernie also gets lots of laughs from his foster family with his funny faces and playful purrsonality <3
Like all Maggie's pets, Ernie is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... would be with a single person or couple who have a quiet lifestyle. I'm very low-key during daylight hours, but become quite the social butterfly in the evenings :) I especially enjoy sitting with you on the sofa while you read, watch TV or scroll on your phone.
I'm still learning to live with sudden noises, and I'll probably seek out a safe spot to hide when the vacuum comes out. My two must-haves are a comfy blanket to curl up on and a window to watch the birds through!
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I love day naps and prefer to be left alone during the day. (The occasional head scratch is welcome, though!) In the evenings I'm generally up and about, watching my family cook dinner and playing with bits of string or cardboard. I'm only a year old, so every now and then I'll get my zoomies on! - but I'm definitely more chilled out than energetic.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I'm patient by nature – no biting or scratching humans, unless I see a foot wriggle beneath a blanket and then it's pounce time! – but I will run away if you try to pat me when I'm not in the mood. For this reason, I'd prefer to live with a super single, cool couple or a fab family with older teenagers.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Since coming into foster care I haven't spent time with any other pets, though I did used to live in a colony with other cats - so there's a good chance I'll be open to a friendly fur-pal!

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
