About Lily
Lily is a pretty doggo and a major boof who is looking for a foster with the view to adopt home. She is young, eager to learn and needs an adult only family who will be around more often than not to provide enrichment and love. She’s bouncy, excitable and loads of fun but will need strong people who know when it’s time to settle. She needs to be the only pet and is looking for a active household who will do consistent, enrichment-based training. Due to her having hip dysplasia in her left hip though, she can't go for long runs and have a lot of exercise (though she would want to!).
Medical notes
On x-ray, it was noted that Lily's her 'ball and socket' hip joint on her L hip didn't fit in as well as it should, which means that Layla has very moderate-severe hip dysplasia. There has been no noted lameness or stiffness in the entire time Lily has been with us, although this is difficult to assess as she is a very active dog. There is minimal evidence of arthritis on her x-rays, so at this point in time Lily has only been started on cartrophen (an anti-arthritis injection).
However, given the joint doesn't fit properly, with ageing and ongoing wear and tear, her left hip may start developing arthritis. Signs of arthritis include limping, abnormal gait, stiffness after lying down for extended periods of time and unwilling to jump. If any of these signs are noted, we recommend a check up with your regular vet, at which point ongoing anti arthritis treatment may be recommended, including further pain relief.
She may require surgery later in life to remove the ball from the socket call a femoral head and neck excision or a total hip replacement. Please ensure that you keep Lily's weight under control, more weight means more pressure on this joint. She should also not be heavily exercised as this will increase the amount of arthritis later in life.
