About Baxter
Baxter, the social butterfly! This beautiful 6 month old short haired Border Collie has excellent social skills, and gives shy dogs the confidence to play.
This high energy boy will need lots of physical and mental exercise, when he’s grown.
After a big outdoor playing session he usually takes a power nap and is ready to play again. He sleeps some time during late arvo and evenings.
He loves mental stimulation, he is very clever and quickly learns new tricks that he will do if you are convincing enough or have a nice treat. So far he knows some basic commands, such as: sit, down, shake, and a non common one: crawl.. we got creative. He learned which rooms he cannot enter and in which rooms of the house he is allowed.
He has the basic knowledge for on lead walks, and a Puppy school would be ideal for him to complete his training.
He seeks a lot of attention and will start barking or getting mouthy to call your attention. This usually can be stopped by engaging him with some tricks training or taking him to different room. He needs someone who will be patient with him and set boundaries.
During his foster stay, he has been exposed to various environments such as apartments, houses, elevators, dog beaches, dog parks, and busy roads. He is very easy to walk in smalls streets. He has shown very good recall in off lead dog areas. However he really needs a backyard to run in and isn’t suited to apartment living.
While he is high energy when people are around, he has not destroyed anything that is not his when left alone. So far, he was tested to stay home alone for some hours without having any issues. He was tested also with another puppy indoor and was quite social with him, they couldn’t stop playing. Another active dog friend and a backyard would be ideal for him.
Baxter is super smart, playful and affectionate. He is just a baby and has so much to learn and experience and is the perfect age to meet his forever human.
