About Sadie
đ„To apply for Sadie, please scroll down & complete the adoption questionnaire in
full. Please note, incomplete applications will not be considered. đ„
Sadie is searching for a very specific home that meets her needs. Please read the profile carefully.
We are seeking a "foster with a view to adopt" home for Sadie so that we can continue to assist Sadie during her integration into a new home.
Sadie is your typical cattle dog and is searching for a breed experienced home only.
Any children must be over 12 years of age. No cats, chickens or pocket pets please!
So, what does Sadie need?..............................................
Sadie needs a home with a confident owner. Someone who understands the meaning of firm, but fair. Sadie does best when she has clear rules and boundaries, and will be your loyal best friend once she knows what's expected of her. Sadie is very smart and responds to verbal corrections well. She lives to please.
Sadie is timid with men when she first meets them and needs time to get to know them. She must meet them in her own time & on her terms. She will need patience and understanding from any new men. They must be prepared to ignore her for as long as it takes which may be a few days. Once she knows they are safe she will shower them with the love that only a cattle dog can give.
Sadie has been learning to get on with other dogs whilst in care. She has made great strides with that and is in care with many other dogs. Sadie does best with older male dogs. She happily plays with the females here, but requires supervision and at times, verbal correction as she can be dominant. Sadie prefers a proper introduction, as like most humans, she does not want to be friends with every dog she meets.
Sadie has what would be described in human terms, as an addictive personality. She can become obsessed with toys, balls etc. For this reason playtime with these are restricted to one short period a day with no other dogs. Sadie is learning "Nothing in life is free" and must earn every throw of the ball by following a command such as 'sit.' Removing her need to resource guard her toys has helped Sadie calm down a great deal and has helped Sadie learn to engage in play other dogs.
Sadie is house trained, but currently sleeps outside in her kennel. She loves going on bush walks in the state forests and has recently learned to swim in the local lakes.
We do not know Sadie's full background, but she is a sweet and affectionate dog with those she knows and trusts.
Sadie needs someone who understands the needs of her breed and is prepared to provide ongoing mental & physical training and controlled socialisation. If you think you can provide Sadie with her perfect forever home, we would love to hear from you. â€đŸ
