About Sabre
My name is Sabre and I am a loving two and a half year old white German Shepherd who has to find a new home, as I don't get on with the other dogs at home.
I am living on 100 acres so need a good sized property as I am used to all this space. I am very good with young children but due to injuries when I was young I can't go to a home with other dogs.
I love playing with balls and sticks for hours, and running around with my family.
I respond to basic commands such as sit, stay, drop, shake and I come when you call my name. I can walk on a lead but am very reactive to dogs I don't know.
My mum says I am very intelligent and will thrive with more training.
I love water and love swimming in the pool and also get dirty and play in the rain, but I am happiest when I am by my family's side.
I have grown up around horses, other dogs and a cat, but due to aggression now with the other dogs I am best as an only dog, or a very submissive female German Shepherd.
You have to be able to come to Watson in ACT to meet me.
So, if you have recently owned a German Shepherd and think you can be my new family please "Enquire about this Pet" and give German Shepherd Rescue some information about your home and family and experience with my breed.
Medical notes
Sabre is microchipped and desexed. He also has a permanent limp in his front left leg, due to needing surgery when only six month sold. He can still run and play but does occasionally get a little sore. Full details of his surgery and recovery can be provided on request.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
