Requirements:
• An active family with a Commitment to ongoing training
• Older children if any
• Resident well behaved dog to show him the ropes
Hailes is a very sweet and intelligent pup that has so much love to give.
He loves to be with his people and be involved in everything!
An excellent running partner with all that kelpie energy, but when walking he pulls because you're going too slow. If he’s wearing a harness he’s much easier to wrangle, and would benefit from some further leash training.
Hailes is about 20kg but surprisingly strong! He needs two walks a day, or one big walk / run, and of course lots of mental stimulation otherwise toys and beds will start exploding randomly. With that clever kelpie brain, Hailes is a very smart boy that would thrive with learning more advanced commands in a formal training environment. While in foster care, he has already learnt how to sit, wait for his food, lay down and has just about mastered how roll over.
Hailes is learning quickly that there’s no pats until all four paws on the ground and as an excitable young pup he would suit a home with older children, if any.
He is socialising well with other dogs and loves other playful pups that are around his size or smaller but tends to be a bit scared/ unsure of the larger ones. A home with another dog that can show him the ropes. Hailes is not much of a toy lover- especially the ones that go squeak- but will happily munch on a kong to keep himself busy between walks.
Hailes will cry and howl for a time when left alone, having a dog friend might help resolve this, as he had one in his previous life. He would be best suited as a companion pet, as he lacks the working drive.
Not tested with pocket pets, cats or livestock
