About Twiggy
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Hi, I’m Twiggy. I’m shy but I have a huge heart and a sweet nature. I’ve had a tough start to life and I get scared easily, so I’m looking for a quiet family who can be patient with me and help me learn to be brave.
When I feel safe and comfortable, I have so much love to give. I’m affectionate and gentle, and I enjoy pats and belly rubs. I’m usually ok with being handled, I approach for pats, and I mostly come when called. I’ll make a great lap cat - I’ll climb on your lap or lay by you on the couch for purry TV pat times. I might climb onto your bed for pats at bed time or in the morning, but I’ll find my own place to sleep. And I like to play chase with bits of string or little toys if you have the time to play with me.
I also like time to myself. I won’t follow you around a lot or get anxious if you head off to work. I’m happy to find a comfy place to nap most of the day. My favourite napping places are sunny places or high cosy spots. In my current foster home when things are boring, I sometimes jump on top of the tall laundry cupboard and fall asleep. It took my foster mum a long time to figure out where I was because she couldn’t see me at all!
I enjoy jumping and climbing and exploring all the small spaces. But I don’t get up to mischief - I don’t push things off shelves or claw furniture. Sometimes I get the zoomies and like to run up and down the stairs and through the cat tunnel. I like looking out windows and doors, but I don’t want to go outside.
I’m occasionally vocal. I ek-ek-ek at birds, and I might meow hello or chatter to myself from time to time. I purr a lot.
It can take me a while to get used to new things, like new people or a change of environment. When a visitor comes, I run and hide - sometimes in a very small space in the room furthest away. Every now and then I might feel brave and come out for a peek, but sometimes it will take me a while to stop hiding after they leave.
I’m looking for a quiet family who has the time and patience to help me come out of my shell, and who can accept me as I am. I might never be a confident and outgoing kitty, but I have so much love to give the perfect family.
For my health and that of local wildlife, I must be homed 100% indoors forever.
What is Known About My Background:
I was abandoned on the doorstep of a local vet with my four kittens. Not much is known about our lives before that, but we were all pretty healthy and hungry
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
I didn’t get along well with a friendly male cat in foster care - I hissed and growled. I loved hanging out with my sister Kiko though.
I haven’t met any dogs since being in care, so I’m not sure what I think of them.
While I haven’t met any children since coming into care, I am a very timid cat. If children are in the home they must be quiet and respect my need for space, otherwise I will get stressed. For this reason I am probably not suitable for young children or toddlers, but might be ok with older children who are able to tell if I’m scared
