About Garret
We think Garret must have been a yoga instructor in another life. His favourite position in the downward dog and he will do it at every available opportunity, always followed by a big stretch, yawn and ‘namaste’.
But despite all his yoga, there’s not much ‘zen’ about Garret. He’s an energetic boy who is curious and excited about life. There will be no forgetting of ‘walkies’ on Garret’s watch. He’ll grab the lead and walk himself if he has to! He loves to be in on all the action. Even when sleeping, he’ll have on eye open just in case he misses out on something fun (or something with food). Lest he is not being paid enough attention, he will yawn loudly with a little squeak to signal that pats are immediately required.
Garret’s happy place is at home, where he can lounge about in the company of those he loves most. He has adapted to his new life easy and exemplifies a ‘good boy’ around the house. He’s switched on and has learned a number of new commands in a few short weeks. Garret isn’t yet super comfortable when he is around other dogs though and will benefit from ongoing socialising to help him feel safe and secure in their presence. He will be fine as the only dog in his home, ensuring he gets all his human’s love to himself!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
