About Panda
5-year old Panda has been melting hearts with his gorgeous panda-esque face since arriving in foster care and after settling in nicely is ready to find his forever home.
Panda is currently living the inner-city Melbourne life and is quite the hipster hound. He loves people and pats, is an excellent roacher, and partial to the odd zoomie too. He has adjusted well to apartment life and doesn’t need a large space, provided he gets his twice daily walks and enrichment.
Panda currently lives with another greyhound and is a super sweet dog who would do well with a greyhound sibling in his forever home. However, we also think he would be happy living as an only dog, as he’s pretty independent and likes to spend time hanging out in his own space as well as with his family. Panda has not spent much time alone as his carers are working from home, however, hasn’t shown any signs of separation anxiety, and we think he will be okay home alone for a few hours at a time. Like he any dog, he will benefit from a home that slowly builds up ‘alone time’.
Panda has not been socialised with other breeds and is reactive to small dogs especially. Although this is improving, a new home should be prepared to continue working with him on his reactivity and taking socialisation slowly. Despite this, Panda is an inquisitive hound and has loved exploring his local neighbourhood. He currently gets two walks a day and has even visited some of the local cafes (so long as there are no small fluffies close by).
If you would like to open your home and heart to this gorgeous boy, and feel comfortable continuing with his reactivity training (Amazing Greys can help with this too), please contact us at adopt@amazinggreys.com.au.
In summary:
• No homes with non-greyhound breeds, cats or pocket pets
• Needs a home with a confident handler on walks, comfortable continuing ‘reactivity’ training
Before applying, please consider:
• What your work and social life will look like once we reach a “Covid-normal”
• The long term financial and time commitments of having a forever dog
Medical notes
X-ray showed signs of arthritis in Panda's spine. This is not impacting his health or mobility at the moment, however may affect his back legs as he ages.
(Arthritis is fairly common for greyhounds and usually treated effectively with injections)
