Dear sweet old Cindy, what a life she has led.
Cindy was left in a back since January after her owner was incarcerated. Neighbours were feeding her, but she basically lay in the dirt day after day, hardly moving, never going for walks, never going inside. Just laying in the same place day after day until a cruelty complaint alerted the council and they decided to take her away to be put down.
The local rescue group altered us and our driver Tuseet drove the 5 or 6 hour round trip to bring her safety.
When she got to her carers place she went into the garden and found a spot in the dirt and just stayed there. It must have been very confusing for her. The carers were instructed just to leave her ( weather permitting) and let her decompress.
When I met her, armed with SavourLife treats, it was like a wave of happiness washed over her right before our eyes.
She was wobbling around, eating treats, getting a brush and looking happy and relaxed. Finally she graduated from the garden to an actual bed.
So whilst this video looks distressing it was actually amazing to us and gave us hope ( laughing with joy because this was the most she had moved) .
Cindy had a vet check up and received
Nails clipped
Heartworm test and treated
Nextgard treatment ( flea, worm and tick)
Lumps checked and aspirated
Teeth checked and future treatment plan
C5 injection
Arthritis and pain medication
Microchip
The wonderful vets and Mitchelton Veterinary Practice and her carer made sure she got everything she needed.
She’ll need a retirement home, someone with no stairs (or a low ramp) , she is what we would call a palliative care patient. She has a big personality, she is funny and charming and sweet and still has an amazing zest for life.
Cindy will need a very special, very loving person experience with older dogs.
