About 🐾 Dougie 🐾
**PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING**
-Enquiries that are not accompanied by a completed adoption questionnaire, or have demonstrated they have not read the information provided, will not receive a response.
-Please DO NOT apply if you are not 100% sure you are ready to adopt or you are only interested in adopting if you can negotiate a reduction in adoption fee. Dougie's adoption fee is earmarked to save the lives of other animals in need and it is NOT NEGOTIABLE.
-Submitting an application purely because you want to have first dibs if you decided you might want to adopt is not only selfish and irresponsible, it wastes the time of our volunteers and our animals and has serious ramifications for the lives of animals waiting to come into care.
-Previous applicants need not apply.
Please say a very Squishy hello to our gorgeous little friend, Dougie! This cheeky little guy is an 8 month old Pug x Cavalier and unfortunately for young Douglas, like so many others this year, he is a ‘pandemic puppy’. He was purchased entire from a backyard breeder and while their hearts were in the right place, they were not prepared or equipped to cope once the reality of a puppy and all the work and mess that comes along with them set in. As a result, at just 6 months of age, Doug was put up for sale, still entire and untrained. Thankfully, once realising the dangerous situation they were placing this little guy in, they were extremely relieved for him to come into care. Dougie’s amazing foster family have put in so much work with him and we now feel he’s ready to continue his journey towards being the best little doggo he can be, in his forever home.
This is what his foster mum had to say:
“Dougie (Dougle Bug, Douglas) is a boy with a big personality. He’s got two modes - flat out leaping and playing with his foster brothers and snuggling in as close as he can get to humans and other dogs alike. Douglas knows basic commands but still needs work. He’d suit a home with someone who has the time to shower him with love and training. He loves his foster brothers so a home with another dog who is playful but could be a role model would be great. He’s toilet trained and while has been living with cats he tends to get excited and chase. He’s not suited for a home with young children; he needs the stability and routine of an adult home. While he does still have a way to go with his training, he is very food motivated and eager to please!”
Please note, any questions, enquiries or applications in relation to Doug, that are not accompanied by an adoption questionnaire (completed in full), or that demonstrate they have not read the information provided will not receive a reply.
Again, Doug is looking for a mature, adult home in Melbourne or surrounds, preferably with an existing, friendly and well-mannered dog. A home that is committed to continuing his training and providing him with the boundaries and structure he needs, after his less than ideal start. Previous puppy experience is preferred but not required, though you must be fully committed to “the puppy life”, as this cheeky little guy is still very much a pup!
To apply to adopt Dougie, please complete in full, the adoption questionnaire in the link below, with as much detail as possible.
